Al Gore ignores 'Earth Hour'

www.worldnetdaily.com

Al Gore's "An Inconvenient Truth" may have inspired many to participate in yesterday's "Earth Hour" by switching off their lights from 8:30 p.m. to 9 p.m., but maybe the former vice president didn't get the memo.

Drew Johnson, the president of the Tennessee Center for Policy Research, decided to drive by Gore's mansion in Nashville at 8:48 p.m. and records that floodlights were on illuminating the driveway leading up to the main quarter.

"I pulled up to Al's house, located in the posh Belle Meade section of Nashville, at 8:48 p.m. – right in the middle of Earth Hour," he wrote on his blog. "I found that the main spotlights that usually illuminate his 9,000 square foot mansion were dark, but several of the lights inside the house were on."

He added: "The kicker, though, were the dozen or so floodlights grandly highlighting several trees and illuminating the driveway entrance of Gore’s mansion. I [kid] you not, my friends, the savior of the environment couldn’t be bothered to turn off the gaudy lights that show off his goofy trees."

before someone is going to attack me I want to make it clear that I do support the idea of clean energy and the idea of teching people to save the energy when it is posible.

but the whole idea of turning lights off by entire cities is crazy. I am not even talk about the some dangers which could be provoced by it. I am not even remind that the power plants are unable to lower the energy production for that occasion so there is no win at all by that happening. even most of equipment needs a lot more energy to restart than it would use within that one hour.

but this could cause (if everybody would really participate) the real danger - blackouts. and a major problems for power plants.

this is stiupidness.

and now we see that even a Godfather of the idea (and mafia behind the global warming issue as well) is ignoring this.
that is just great.

I'd rather not have you calling what some people may opt to do "stupid." Or "crazy."

I turned off my lights. If you didn't, don't criticize Gore for not doing it, either.

Ah, had wait to the end to see what this was about.

Btw, who's Al Gore? I mean in recent terms.

I don't subscribe to Earth Hour. I do that all year, I don't need an hour to tell me about it.

Al Gore didnt do it, and neither did anyone I know.

I was watching the local news here in Dallas last night and they showed a live shot of downtown Dallas with "all its lights off". None of the buildings and I mean none, had their lights shut off...

Now dont get me wrong, I deffinatley think energy conservation is important. Especially when it can save money in these tough times, but I just think there are much more practical ways than having cities around the world shut off lights for one hour for one day just trying to make a statement.

If you really care about conserving energy, Just shut off lights when you are not in the room. Leave the TV off. Carpool when possible, If possible dont run the A/C and open a window or two. For more ways you can search on google ways to conserve energy.

There are many practical ways too actually conserve energy. It is time we stop making statements like we did yesterday and actually do something to conserve energy and help the envirnment etc.... I do this stuff everyday and it really helps!

Isn't Al Gore(y) the guy that wants to save the planet?

Isn't this a great way to expose his true intent: he does not give a flying crap!

Expose these illuminati any way you can I say - that is the real way to save our planet.

It wasn't about conserving energy by turning off lights. We all should be doing that all the time anyway.

It was about turning all your lights off across the world as a vote against global warming. Energy grids are being examined and the turnout from the event will be used to pass legislature against global warming.

It would be cool if you knew about the goal of the event before you bash it. *thumbs up*

This year, Earth Hour has been transformed into the world’s first global election, between Earth and global warming.
For the first time in history, people of all ages, nationalities, race and background have the opportunity to use their light switch as their vote – Switching off your lights is a vote for Earth, or leaving them on is a vote for global warming. WWF are urging the world to VOTE EARTH and reach the target of 1 billion votes, which will be presented to world leaders at the Global Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen 2009.

It's a good idea. If you think otherwise, then whatever. But at least try and be informed.
