Being a "know-it-all" makes one Godlike, you can be everything, and know everything about everyone, you can judge others, you are the ONE!
No one can tell you that you are wrong, even when you are, when you have the all knowing, all seeing powers of a massive ego and, the proper personality disorders to keep it going.
And then you die...
(n) ego, egotism, self-importance (an inflated feeling of pride in your superiority to others)
(adj) egotistic, egotistical, narcissistic, self-loving (characteristic of those having an inflated idea of their own importance)

Ego creates fear of change, fear of whats different, fear of failure and success. Ego is what makes you hurt when petty people say petty things about you. Ego is what causes people to kill and maim in the name of their religion or political beliefs. Ego is what makes you feel inferior, is what allows you to accept being mistreated and walked on, or causes you to be reactionary when someone crosses a line. Ego is in fact what has caused you to fear knowledge, because knowledge diffuses the ego since it causes a change in conscious perceptions of reality.
