ACK!!!! I am gonna cry. :(

This is more of a vent then a question.

I was eating breakfast. My preschooler son was playing in the fish tank. He likes to try to catch the fish. I figure it keeps them from getting bored.

There was some splashing and I look to see....

My son was swirling my ipod nano around in the fish tank.

This is one of those moments where the look said it all. he actually went and hid.

I don't know how long he was doing it. If it works it will be a miracle.

it is just a nano, but we are very poor. We have so little. It was one of the few nice things I own. It was a big thing for me and a gift from my husband. And we can't replace it.

So my husband used a chemical that removes moisture. Begins with a D. And we have it drying out now.

I was reading to wait a week before turning it on.

so just send me some good luck technology vibes please. It has been a horrible year, things like this make it worse.

Oh.. you poor dear.

I would still ubject it to a hair dryer set to low for an hour or three.

Kidding about the hour or three but you DO want to try and ensure that ALL moisture has been evaporated/removed before even thinking of turning it on.

I think it should be okay as long as it dry's well. It wasn't on when he went fishing?

I've used WD-40 successfully on wet electronic parts before. If you can actually crack the thing open and hose down the inside with WD-40 it has a good chance of working again.

From what I heard there's a better chance with the nano because of the whole "no moving parts" thing...

make sure you take it completly appart aswell. (well, as appart as it goes, batter out ect, don't physically take the casing appart) Leave it in the airing cupboard, and just hope for the best. You're definatly right to wait a while before turning it back on. *sends electrical healing vibes via the interwebs*

No it wasn't fortunately. I read on is BAD. And to not turn it on in case of a watery event.

In fact,it was dead. I had set it aside next to the computer so I could juice it up again, and forgot it was in reach.

Try putting it in a bag of rice, it should suck out the moisture. When my family's phones get drenched with water we usually do this, it worked all but one time.

Yes!!! It is working!!Woohooo, *DOES A HAPPY DANCE*
we put it in a box for a week with dessicant and it fired up and intact.
