The main Turkish government agency responsible for funding science has provoked outrage by apparently censoring a magazine article on the life and work of Charles Darwin.

The article was stripped from the March issue of the widely read popular-science magazine Bilim ve Teknik (Science and Technology) just before it went to press.

Why I don't know, needs explanations in to why. The people behind this really need to explain because it is an important issue. I will try to find out why they took this action.

While turkey is one of the few constitutionally secular democracies in the area, it's population is highly religious. The government agency probably thought that the outrage among the people inside the country that would come with allowing the article to be published would be worse than the outrage of the general scientific community outside turkey.

EDIT: Either something like that, or certain members of the agency decided to put personal beliefs before doing their job.
