Were we meant to stay on earth?

I've been thinking about this a lot lately. Were we meant to stay on earth? What ever created life: a god, many gods, alien races genetically engineering DNA or what ever you might believe put us on this planet and let us thrive and evolve; had meant for us to stay here?

The magnetic fields around earth help protect us from the cosmic winds and the harmful radiation in space. The atmosphere gives us a way to keep what we need to survive, on the planet as well as helps burn up space junk. The sun gives us the heat and light we need. The other planets help keep us in place and help keep asteroids and other large objects out of the inner solar system. The gravitational pull of the planet along with the atmosphere makes it difficult for us to get off the planet.

What happens if we do get off the planet? You have to stay in your space ship because of the lack of air, the extreme cold, the radiation, the lack of gravity. Even in a space suit you can only stay outside of the ship for short amounts of time or else you get huge doses of radiation, that can cause cancer or genetic mutations.

Maybe something was trying to tell us, that we just aren't meant to leave this planet. Kinda like invisible parental figure saying "stay in your room until I tell you, you can come out".

But this is all just a big maybe. I am probably wrong, just thought I would throw that out there.

Well, Im going to star your post because it makes sense and you've written it in a good manner - although i do disagree, but respectivly. I think that the radiation and the other issues are just there, the sun gives us heat - and so do all the other suns out, there so why don't we venture to their nice planets; may be nicer. I do get where you coming from, i just see all those issues as a "Once you can over come these problems, you will be ready."

Good thread idea though

I think every race of people is somehow destined to travel within it's star system and to other galaxies provided they've done enough spiritual and technological evolution.

As humanity stands at the moment, I hope we never plague another race of people with such hate and distrust. We are very silly if we think that any other race of beings in this universe would accept us of all people with open arms.

Not after what we've been doing to eachother and the planet that gives us life, for thousands of years. IMO we aren't nearly as advanced mentaly as we we are technology wise. And any race that had even the slighest bit of good in them would prevent our very immature and under-developped race too much leeway in terms of exploration and travel at the moment.

Well , Earth is the best place for us. In the whole universe. Simply because we evolved here, under its stresses. Or even have it this way - it was created specially for us. And we were created too. I can accept this theory since there is no way to disprove it.
But it really does not matter - if we evolved to fit certain conditions, then we will certainly evolve further to fit another conditions. Especially since we have not only purely evolutional tools, but also technological and scientific tools.
And if we were created ,and Earth was created - then tell me, parents who make special room for newborn , with all possible dangers like electric sockets and drawers and anything that can fall on their chilld neutralised - their expect him/her to live like that until he is 120 years old? Or they know that he some day will need to get out to the big world outside and face its dangers?

Manifest Destiny wasn't just for settlin the west. Time to start inhabiting other planets.

Leaving earth will be one of the most complicated missions ever encountered, I am atheist and don't think we are being protected in our everyday lives.

I see it more like when you go to a HUGE city and you've never been there before, there are hundreds of one way roads, and busy traffic and millions of pedestrians, and all in all, your lost as F***!!

Thats how it is with us in the galaxy, now expand to the universe, or multiverse. There's really no place to go that will ever satisfy the race, eventually all things will run out.

The universe will then be a very ugly and nasty place to be, but thats not till some 3 trillion years away.

I believe that it is the only way we will survive as a species. Mankind's greatest threat is our precarious place in the solar system. We will likely have to be a "Type II" civilization like Michio Kaku has envisioned...and many people will have a problem because of the one world government that he said has to be in place for humanity to advance to this possibility. I am not even comfortable with the idea, but I realize that it is inevitable. This will likely be over 50 or so years before we achieve the rudimentary technology that would make life off-planet feasible.Good, thought provoking post.

I would agree with Zeroknowledge ,in so far as we have adapted to our environment .... in tandem with it. If our environment was dramatically different so too would we most likely.

Our tool use has made us highly adaptable , we don`t have to wait for nature to produce wings / claws / protective body adaptations etc etc ...... we are capable of fashioning them out of the raw matters at hand.

The history of our species is one of 'pushing the envelope' .

Humanity, by nature, is bread with a sense of adventure and wonder. It is this sense that Marco Polo went to china, why Columbus try to prove a shorter way to India by going west and found the West Indies. It is why the Pilgrims settled America, why we have lad in Antarctica. Why Sir Edmund Hillary climbed Mt Everest. Why we sent man to the Moon and made it "one small step for man one giant leap for man kind."

It seems that our species are the great travelers. We were meant to go to the stars. I feel that if the (God/Gods/Aliens) look at it as a challenge we need to over come. Our planet isn't the only one with a magnetic field. Mars has one, it is about 1/100 of ours, but still about to deflect solar flares and radiation.

There have been hundreds of books written depicting and explaining how to get to the other planet. They even explain the financial and technological benefits.

I am sorry, but I feel that is man stays on Earth they are giving up on seeing the splendor of God's creation and perhaps a look into how and the more important question of why.

ET is monitoring us making sure that we DON'T get above our station. If we were to transcend to the stars now in this very moment in time. Think what a f*@! mess it would be.

Analogy:

Have you ever gone on holiday (magalouf, valaraki example) and watched people behave like complete animals littering and pissing on the streets. Having sex in public in front of everyone If you haven't consider yourself lucky.

Unfortunately most HUMANS (especially those in power)believe that they can do what they want when they want without taking any responsiblility for their actions. ET knows this which is why the lid has been screwed down very tight.

We pollute everything we touch. We are the scum of this universe. We need to change our ways fast.

We are only prisoners of a select few who deem themselves worthy of this post.

By no means is the Earth a prison. It's a very rare gem among millions and trillions of other planets. I am sure of it.

This world is seemingly perfect, provides a perfect balance of hot and cold, can support multiple complex lifeforms in a variety of different species.

This planet has it all. We as humans are the problem, leaving this planet now, we would only be bringing those problems to another planet.

Mold on a sandwich....that's all we are at the moment.

Franspeakfree , that is so true.
You cut through the B.S in saying it.

Well if there is something watching over us that put us on this planet with all these possible dangers to test us to see if we were even worthy of growing up. Who is to say that an alien race or a god can't believe in the idea's of survival of the fittest? I would hope that as the child grew up that it would realize that it shouldn't touch the light socket and would figure a way out of the room, but only once it's gained a basic sense of common sense.

I realize that our planet isn't the only one with a magnetic field or an atmosphere for that matter. If there is anything to those theories (as crazy as they might seem) that there were other beings that lived on mars and the moons around saturn, then maybe the reason why those planets magnetic field is so weak is because they failed to pass the test

Im not trying to say that it's a prison, but I do disagree that our planet is a very rare gem in this universe. Our star is 1 out of an uncountable number of stars, each one with the possibility of 8 or 9 planets, possibly 1 or more of those planets supporting life or having supported life at some point. The odds this planet is a "rare gem" is slim... but I guess there is no real evidence besides speculation that this planet isn't a rare gem.

By no means that I meant our planet is a rare gem in the aspect that it supports life. I think it's foolish to think that we would have the only planet that could support it.

However, this planet's ability to support such vast ammounts of complex life is what I am referring to.

I don't think there are alot of planets that could be terraformed and have such a perfect balance of everything.

Exactly, almost as if it were created for us, by what ever means you want to believe in. And what ever made it so fertile for life, put us here and wants us to stay here.

It's kind of like arguing that we're meant to stay on land only, because we'd drown in the ocean. Technically true, but it won't stop us from building ships and such to make use of it.

when space becomes an economically feasible place to be, space will be a popular place to be.

I've read from a UFO book that alien starships emit an EM wave on a certain frequency corresponding to the alien species' chakra. A 'chakra generator' aboard the ship or something like that.

Because for example, the Earth also has its own natural 'chakra generator' that is responsible for life on this planet. If an Earth-based life form gets beyond this 'chakra field' they crystallize and die even if staying within a pressurized vessel or I would say, adequately protected and life-supported vessel.

The book mentions that an any manned starships must have a chakra generator in place for the occupants to survive interstellar flight.

IMO, you may actually NOT need any artificial chakra generator for interstellar flight once you've reached a certain point of enlightenment. I have to say that interstellar flight might be fitting only to those enlightened ones.

Maybe it's part of the Universes' mechanism that only allows the spreading of the 'good stuff' around while 'evil, destructive, and parasitic stuff' are kept isolated, then annihilated in time.

How malevolence is spread? Perhaps with the aid of technology
