BAGHDAD (Reuters) – An Iraqi reporter who hurled his shoes at former President George W. Bush was convicted of attempting to assault a foreign leader on Thursday and jailed for three years, dismaying many Iraqis who regard him as a hero.

This is ridiculous at best, even Bush said he was never in danger about the incident. The world sees the U.S. as occupiers of Iraq in an illegal war and invasion and the guy who throws a shoe at the moron who invaded his nation gets 3 years yet the moron gets a lifetime pension and secret service detail?

Who serves who?

I want to add this edit - The attack was not meant to harm physically, in the middle east the bottom of the foot and shoes are a sign of disgust and disrespect, recall the shoes hitting the Saddam statue taken down in the beginning? This is not a crime to disrespect a foreigner in my opinion...
