(CNN) -- A gunman killed at least five people when he opened fire at a school in southwest Germany on Wednesday morning, police said.
Several others were wounded in the shooting in the small town of Winnenden, about 20 kilometers (12 miles) northeast of Stuttgart.
Police spokesman Herr Brenner said the exact number of casualties was not known, but more than five people had died.
The shootings happened at the Albertville-Realschule Winnenden school, a junior high school, about 9:30 a.m.
Authorities launched an intense manhunt for the gunman, police said. Reuters.com reported Bild newspaper as saying the man was wearing combat fatigues during the attack
Winnenden, with a population of about 28,000, straddles the past and the present with structures dating to the 16th century.

It's just absolutely sick.. there's no valid reason fo this EVER. This is why we need corporal punishment again, and it should be painful and frightening - just like what he's put all those poor people through.
