Oh dear... most of the people on this thread make me embarrassed to be British. It's like reading the
Private Eye piss-take column. Is
someone going to mention "dear little Maddie" in a minute?
One post in particular deserves some serious rebuttal.

The point about free speech is that it's free whether you agree with it or not. Full marks to the police for doing their job. Obviously, this
protest isn't a real threat, otherwise the police would have been much more hostile to the protestors.
this is a very small minority of Muslims who were doing the protesting, if you look at other video's of the event, you will see many Muslims
in the crowds along the route, actually cheering the troops along.
I'm sorry, I obviously don't have your talent for spotting someone's religious affiliation without actually asking them. You're pretty talented,
being able to pick Muslims out of a crowd. I didn't spot any burkas in the crowd, and that's the only specifically Islamic garment I know.
The way I see it, if you don't like it, then you know where the Airport is, nobody is forcing them to live in our country, collecting
benefits, doing jobs and not paying taxes...
This is from someone who later says "I'm not a racist".
Hint: racism is about treating a whole sector of the population in a knee-jerk way. You're just not being terribly consistent, either. One minute
Muslims are cheering the troops home, the next they're brown chav scum.
on a recent doctors visit, the receptionist got screamed at by a Muslim, because she told him there was not any appointments for 2 days...
Yup. I've never seen a proper British person make that kind of a scene in a doctor's waiting room. You know, it's just possible that they might
have been discriminated against before and thought it was happening again. I agree, it's unpleasant behaviour, but it's not just Muslims who resort
to screaming and shouting when they don't get what they think they're entitled to.
I'd have applauded too when the GP stood up to him. But I wouldn't have thought all Muslims were like that, because I know lots who aren't.
I am far from being a racist
Sorry to break it to you... not that far, I'm afraid. As soon as you start saying things like
Who do these people think they are?
you're basically tarring them all with the same brush. That's racism: condeming an entire race (in this case a religion, which just makes things
confusing - but you think you can tell a Muslim by sight and I'd say that's fallacious) for the actions, real or imagined, of a few.
... however I do have a suspicion that this event was designed to go this way, nobody is so stupid as to put these protesters right in the path
of this parade, and expect it to go peacefully, this was intended to happen.
Well, this
is a conspiracy site, after all: and I'm glad you've included something that works on that level amongst the reconstituted
Daily Mail hysterical drivel. And actually, I think you might be right. Those protesters might have been allowed there to provoke precisely
the reaction you've displayed.
My response to those who want to protest like this, is if you are determined to get your point across, don't expect a civil response when you
do it in the face of the hero's returning from a country where all they did was defend the innocent
I doubt very much they expected a civil response. As for "defending the innocent"... however benign the intentions of individual soldiers, they're
in the wrong place at the wrong time for
all the wrong reasons. Defending the innocent is certainly not what Iraq and Afghanistan are about,
however much Bliar would have loved to spin it that way. But that's another, much longer, thread. I will simply say that the war was and is
illegal, and that the war crime of waging aggressive war is regarded as the most serious of all, because it contains within it the seed of all other
crimes.
if you have a problem, then take it up with the policy makers
I absolutely agree. It's like picking on someone at school because of what their dad does for a living. The soldiers deserve our sympathy.
I for one don't like defenders of our country to be ridiculed because you couldn't control your own Governments
Not that you're a racist... I think that might be the single most misinformed sentence in a long and very special post. You
really need to do
some reading about why the US went to war in the first place, and why we got dragged into it.
... what is it you want to protect? your freedom? or your apparent right to treat Women as slaves? NOT IN MY COUNTRY. EVER! go home if you
don't like it.
Nah mate, that doesn't sound racist at all. Or stupid. Don't get me wrong. I wouldn't for a moment defend Sharia, or suggest that the Police
don't, for example, get involved in honour killing, an appalling practice that, as you say, has no place in the UK
What they're protesting at is that we've invaded two countries (for reasons entirely different to the ones in the official BS) with predominantly
Muslim population.
And the bottom lineis, those are war crimes, and Blair and his cabinet should face legal consequences for that. Not that I'm holding my breath on
that one, obviously.
