Hey all,

New member here, though I've been a lurker for 4-5 years. At first I wasn't going to post in this forum since I thought I knew my way around ATS...wrong. Since activating my account I have seen that ATS is a complicated place and the level of involvement can be taken well what I thought. I am finishing up my junior year as an undergrad studying alternative and sustainable energy with a physics minor. I hope to go to grad school as well. I've always had an interest in fringe and alternative topics and have spent countless hours researching these topics on the internet. Several research papers I have written for college have had shades of alternative topics in them. I am used to the style of scientific research writing at this point and would love to get involved in the research forum here. However, you must be a "qualified" member to post/participate. I found little information concerning what exactly is a "qualified" member and I was hoping someone could let me know how to be able to collaborate on these projects.

All in all though just saying hi and introducing myself.

Welcome to ATS

I was hoping someone could let me know how to be able to collaborate on these projects.

Well sir that depends on what project you wish to contribute to!..

many on here have vast brains on many subjects and I myself have been mmm lets say "put in my place" on many aspects of things, and this is not a bad thing as learning is never bad! its how one deals with being told you are infact wrong "subject to data ofc"..

But feel free to post and make threads and im sure many fellow memebers of ats will be willing to say you are correct or flame you "skeptical people" ect..

one tip "dont drink coffee or "that other stuff" late at night it will only get you banned /me hides\ hehe

but as i said welcome to ATS "as a full member" and not a lurrrker

Hi...

The Research Forum has some negotiable guidelines for participation. Namely, a few posts/time spent to provide an indication that you truly want to be a contributing member et cetera though exceptions have been made in the past.

My advice is to shoot "ADVISOR" a u2u explaining your case and you may be able to get started right away.

Until then...welcome to ATS and I look forward to seeing what you can bring to the table...

Hi Electro and welcome to the forum. I think this is a great place and lots more fun when you are actively involved in it. There are so many intelligent people on here I don't think there is a day that goes by that I don't learn something new.

Again, welcome!!!

Thanks to everyone that replied and their great information/keyboard kitties. I think I might post a few papers from school in the blog to give the research advisors a sample to see if they would let me join the team. I am really happy to see how how much more this site has to offer when you actually get a full membership. Thanks again for the welcomes!
