I had recently heard of this theory; that as babies are fresh born, they know all about the universe and as they age, it fades away. Has anyone else heard of this or is it new?

I wouldn't surprise me, it seems the further we move away from child hood the less intelligent we become. Some people manage to claw it back and we call these people the young at heart. I'd rather have a conversation with a kid than a scientists or a stockbroker, your more likely to hear something actually interesting.

Yer I've heard about this.

My opinion on this is that babies know all they need to know for life but that information is forced out of their head by the parents saying, "say Mumma, come on, say mumma." and stuff like that. I think that babies have a form of communication which they soon forget.

I don't believe in 'baby genius' theory.

*Cut/Censored by me*

Just not buying it.

Look to the animals, knowing their place in the world. Being completely honest, as opposed to deceptive. One with nature.

I doubt it, Look up case about feral children.

There was one case though that I forget where, but I believe it was in the 1800 where a man with very little speaking ability wondered into a town in Russia, he appeared to have been kept in a basement all his life. The interesting thing about him was he exhibited extreme extra sensory ability, he could identify people by smell alone, he could see peoples faces in near total darkness, his hearing was excellent almost super human, AS he learned to speak however and interact all these ability seemed to fade away.

Very interesting, makes you wonder if reincarnation or if the intelligence is here because the souls are fresh from Heaven and our society corrupts it

Okay... Here you go.
www.neatorama.com...

And here's something to help support your baby genius theory. It's also very cute.

I think if they knew all these things when they were born you wouldn't have to teach a baby how to eat. Some babies have no clue how to take a bottle especially if you gave them the boob for a few days first adn since they sleep so much the first few days the world couldn't bring them down that much.

Wow. My mother always said that. She used to say" Babies are so clever, I think that they probably have all the knowledge but as they get older they forget it". She also says how animals know where certain things are that are good for them etc. And they just KNOW where to go etc.
