Seen this article on the cover page of our local Startribune newspaper. My state is in the news. After all this time U of M scientists have finally discovered a way to prevent the HIV virus. Unfortunately it requires a vaccination. Why does this bother me? It just seems amazing that after all this time they have amazingly found a way to prevent HIV but not cure HIV. I truly hope they can fix the epidemic but there is a chance that they are trying to infect us with something else?

It truly sucks that this has to be pondered. But hey, what a world we live in.

sorry to burst your bubble but, just because they think theyve found a way to vacciante animals it does not mean it will work in humans. there have been a bunch of medications, especially vaccinations, that work on animals but not in humans

roflmao @ hater.
God that was good.
I feel you on that ...people take these newstories and attack you for posting them here on ATS. it does get old.

Dont shoot the messenger people.

Oh, and on topic...I will believe it when I see it.
Obama said "in my term we will find a cure for cancer"
I stated in another thread that since he stated he would find the cure, we probably already have the cure.
Thats a bold statement to make without having something to back it up.

The article doesn't say anything about a vaccination.

It says the animals were treated with a gel. Sounds to me like topical application to the sex organs. That's not a vaccination nor a new idea. They have been working on this kind of stuff for years. If it works, expect it to be included in all sorts of lubricants and on condoms-- but like spermicide-- I wouldn't expect it to be 100% effect-- and like other forms of contraception-- it won't end ANYTHING Africa. But thanks for playing.

Invisibleman wasn't attacking you on that... how you read what he said depends on the "tone of voice" you apply to the words.

He was merely stating that we aren't quite there yet.

But it does look more promising now.

If we can deal with all the other STDs out there, then we can get back to the 60's. lol.

Actually I think it's bad to get that vaccination when it comes out because they are currently trying to mix bird flu with it to create a pandemic to reduce the population of earth.

Think about it.

"Hey everyone we found a cure for cancer!!! Free For EVERYONE!"

Then in the "free" vaccine there would be the pandemic that will cause the population reduction. What you think FEMA camps are being authorized for?

Also, every disease known to mankind has a cure, and the government knows it. They just never admit it because pharmaceutical companies make a LARGE profit from the people who need their medication to live.

That's also a big difference between the East and West of the world. Eastern medicine focus more on herbal plants and natural cures, while the Western medicine focus on what's more profitable for them.

East verse West medicine? Are you serious? I think you mean, profitable medicine actually works and is based on science, while eastern medicine is based on what? Faith? At least with praying you statistically significant results! Herbs can't even offer that.

There also is a good reason medicine isn't free, especially ones that take three decades to research. If you were not dually compensated for your research, it is an awful waste of time and money to invest in a drug. And while you may say its for the good of humanity, I don't see you donating your hard earned money to fund public research. People invest in things that offer a return-- and pharmaceuticals offer returns. It would be unethical not to compensate the investors that spend tons of money on coming up with vaccines, therapies, and cures. Not only that-- they would stop doing it.

And for the love of God, will the mods change the title of this article...it says NOTHING absolutely NOTHING about a vaccination in that article!

Anything that is given prior to infection to for preventive measures, is a vaccination. They are administered to prevent disease. Okay, maybe the "tone" of my WPM was too loud or whatever you are stating. When things are fishy, I don't eat fish. In todays society when I look at the cover page of the Startribune in my state of Minnesota, I trust it is a big deal.

This happened on my other thread. The first thing you do is misinterpret and attempt to "debunk" what I am saying. Then my post is taken to another thread after being called false.

We all have different hunches and mine is different than yours. Thanks for your replies. You are all great. (Is that better than hater?)
