There is no-doubt there is an uptick in coverage, but there is no reason to think it means anything outside of the normal cyclical nature of media-interest in the phenomenon. While this cycle has no set pattern or schedule, the media's interest does wax and wan. And this isn't a market-niche they haven't recognized before either; the most famous example is the X-Files and it's imitators in the 1990s.
