First, watch this video, as what I discuss below concerns the knowledge of which it contains:

www.youtube.com...

This is all very new and interesting to me. Of course, a youtube video is in no way the best source in which to gain knowledge, but what it says peaks my interest and hopefully yours as well.

I wonder how many of our fellow freemasons would care to speak on the subject of the nine vaults underground, one of which contains a pure gold triangular tablet with the name of God (the capstone?)

I don't know about you all, but this is definitely starting to come full "square" for me.

Let's discuss.

Babe, I don't want to sound condescending but anybody who believes in the legend of the 9 vaults is running on about 9 volts of brainpower. Now I'm not talking about you, you're just a curious soul who is maybe a little naive, I'm talking about the people who preach this disinformation.

The myth goes back to the belief that the Masons are descended from the Knights Templar, which they're totally not. Now some of them might wish they were, lol, but they're just not. The Masons are just beefy, ruddy faced guys who like to get together at their lodges and have fish fries and give money to charity.

The legend of the secret teachings of Enoch and Oak Island and the 9 vaults and all that are just spook stories people who weren't allowed to join their local lodges for some reason tell to their drinking buddies!

I dont speciffically belive in these underground tunnels and chambers, but you know there has to be more stuff under the earth than is publicly known.

I mean we have heard about Saddam Hussien's underground tunnels, bunkers and bases. Isnt it only logical to assume that countries with more technology would have even more underground installations.

Ive heard many people succsessfully debunking the underground city theories, but what if its not the size of a city? What if its only the size of a large mall, or even more conservatively the size of a small office building? I mean it doesnt have to be as big as a city to get some crazy stuff done, or to hide things better than anyone above ground could.

Im not a hollow earth beliver nor do i necessarily belive that freemasons or the government have huge underground bases, but you know somebody does somewhere. I mean Saddam had them and there are tons of people with more power and more resources than Saddam.

They would need to be well ventilated and it wouldnt be easy to put large structures under ground but it has to have been done. There are plenty of groups that have the money and the motivation.

ManganeseJolt,

I appreciate the way you excluded me from those having little brain power, and yes I am a curious soul. Naive? Possibly, but aren't we all at this stage? We're just all here gathering little golden nuggets of information here and there trying to make of it what we will. Info I find interesting, I post because I figure others may find it interesting as well. So, if you think that this legend is laughable I respect your opinion. But as for me, I'd like to delve further.

Ummm.

I think saying there is a conspiracy about masons is enough, taking it to the point where they are "guards of teh underground" is a tad excessive, wouldn't you say?

I mean, i'm very speculative and open to conspiracies about masons, like them being affiliated with the illuminati because there is some tangible evidence that suggests this, but, guards of the underground?

I'm gonna go ahead and say, I didn't bother watching the video but I'm gathering that somehow masons are connected to underground aliens.

Kit kat bars ftw.

You're mistaken to call the tablet with the name of God a capstone. The capstone lies ABOVE the 9 vaults... "Capstone - a stone which caps or crowns." (the OED)

The legend of the 9 vaults is indeed taught in both York Rite and Scottish Rite Masonry (though apparently the two disagree on what word was carved upon it). There's some speculation that the capstone above the 9 vaults is the Rock on the Temple Mount. Others think Enoch dug his vaults somewhere else.

Thanks for the correction.

It's funny how there is little information online about the 9 vaults, even know the masonic conspiracy is as widespread as it is. I guess it's hitting on something a little too important for the "masses" to be aware of.

The Apocrypha by definition aren't particularly mainstream. I haven't read the Book of Enoch, so I really don't know how much of the legend is covered there, or where it might exist in other ancient texts, to be honest.

The legend, as I understand it, predates Masonry. Masons merely use it as an allegorical tale... rediscovering that which was lost and by doing so gaining a greater understanding of God.
