They want to make us believe!

They want to make us believe with means of music, of songs, which praise never ending LOVE. Songs, which claim not being able to be without the other. Songs, which pretend to know about endless love. Songs, which pretend that there is real LOVE. Songs, which pretend that everything is worthwhile.

They want to control us by it!

They want to control us by LOVE. We spent our lives searching for LOVE. We spent our lives yearning for LOVE.
Every spring, every summer, every fall, every winter of our life!

The craving for LOVE is planted into our hearts from the very beginning.
The craving for LOVE is stoked with every breath we take.
The craving for LOVE is stoked with every look into our eyes, with every look into the eyes of another human.
The craving for LOVE is stoked with every movie, every song we hear, every ad we see.

 

Is there such a thing called LOVE?

Sometimes we think we just found LOVE. We wish desperately that everything we heard about it is true.

TRUE LOVE!
Everlasting LOVE.
Absolute LOVE.
Unconditional LOVE.

We are trapped.
We only long to be with the other one.
We only want to be with this man.
We only want to be with this woman.

We do everything for LOVE.
We do everything that he stays with us.
We do everything that she accepts us.

We make a fool out of us, just for LOVE, just to be LOVEed.

And than one day it ends.
Our LOVE is gone.
Our LOVE tells us that it was just because of pity.

We have been trapped.

Our LOVE is never endless, it is ending.
We stopped LOVEing the man . We stopped LOVEing the woman next to us.
LOVE ended!

the LOVE you refer to over and over again, is a selfish form of ego gratification. true love does exist, but has little in common with the emotion spoken of in MOST songs, and depicted in MOST movies. Notable exceptions: Films: The Lord of the Rings (Frodo and Sam), The Forgotten (mother and child), The Matrix (Where Neo risks his life for his friend Morpheus) Songs: Future Love Paradise by Seal, Two out of Three Ain't Bad by Meatloaf (as a negative example), Everything I do I do for you, I think by Bryan Adams, as an overly-sentimentalized yet otherwise accurate depiction of love.

Love means doing something for someone else's benefit, though it might not benefit you, or it might even cost you a lot. Most parents love. Love is obviously real.

But you're right, the mirage of romantic love that we are fed from birth is purely illusory.
