Doubts over Swiss attack claims

news.bbc.co.uk

A Brazilian woman who said she miscarried twins after an alleged racist attack in Zurich was not pregnant, investigators have said.

Paula Oliveira, a 26-year-old lawyer, had said she was attacked by three knife-wielding skinheads on Monday.

However, medical experts said she was not pregnant, and that it was possible the numerous wounds on her torso and legs were self-inflicted.

This crazy attention seeker pretended to be pregnant and cut her skin over a hundred times carving the name of the ultra nationalist group into her flesh, she then claimed a group of skinheads attacked her and beat her causing the abortion of twins and then they cut her with knives. However investigators pointed out that all the scars were very shallow and in places easy to reach for her -plus she had never been pregnant!

She got loads of media attention and caused lots of debate about the sate of the nation but it was all a lie, did she really think she would get away with it?

What really gets me about this is the length she was willing to go to to get attention, cutting her skin and constantly lieing to everyone about what happened - sort of makes me think if someone is willing to do this, and that awful woman is able to have eight children just to gain attention...

How many of the 'abducted' people, contactees, etc are in the same desperately attention starved state? How wide spread is this neurosis?

It's about time that the truth came out.

As soon as I saw the original story and pics, I started laughing. Immediate flashback to that McCain campaign worker/idiot who carved the letter B into her face and said that the Obama supporters did it.

Seriously, people need to handle their needs for attention differently. Just do like I do and leave the curtains open while you're recreating with the missus

Wow thats almost as disturbing as the original story.

I must admit, i did wonder why the marks were so "neat"?

I can't imagine your average neo-nazi skinhead being nice and delicate with a blade on someone they hated enough to to this to.

Plus the woman would be wriggling for her life.....they'd be lucky to get any clear letters on her stomach i'd imagine.

Sick either way.

Could this be an example of Munchhausen syndrome?

not a one-liner

here's the original story, it mentions the police didn't mention it until it had caused a stir in brazil, maybe they are covering it up?

However, the BBC's Imogen Foulkes in Geneva says the police did not make the appeal, or supply any public information about the attack, until after the case was reported in the Brazilian media.

i don't know what would be worse, if she is a lier or they are -either way, its a big crazy lie.
