Frisco wants $125,000 for an armored vehicle and $200,000 for a mobile command vehicle. You know, for all that gang tank warfare going on up in Frisco.
McKinney wants $5 million for SWAT toys and stuff.
North Richland Hills wants $51,000 for volunteer patrol volunteers. Let’s throw in $10 for a dictionary so they can look up the word “volunteer.”
Irving wants $5 million for biometric scanners, digital cameras, RFID scanners — nothing Big Brother there.
Grand Prairie wants $1.25 million f
All in all, America’s mayors asking for a little over $5.5 billion in public safety “stimulus.”

Excessive demands for money to spend on equipment for surveillance and public control devices in such a harsh economic climate seems crazy.
Surely Public money could be better spent !

Can this amount of expenditure be classed as public safety of public control.

This is a wish list - maybe Obama will put a stop to it - time will tell

Like I said in another thread. There is only so much pushing you can do against the American people before they rise up and kick your ass.

Like the surveillance on the buses here. We have a very nice service here for disabled people to have curb to curb public transportation. My daughter uses this to get to work every day and to go to various appointments.

They are now adding surveillance cameras on these buses. These are not buses with any history of problems and disabled riders that are generally very peaceful and well behaved.

I ride public transport and certain city routes can be a bit tough, but these are regular routes where anyone can get on the bus. You have to be throurougly screened to ride the Lift Line buses. It seems over the top how it is impossible to leave your home and not be on camera after camera with the potential of your every move being tracked. Why do they care.
