Tony Blair has once again outflanked his old friend Gordon Brown by becoming the first world statesman to shake hands with President Barack Obama

The president said: "I want to thank my good friend Tony Blair for coming today, somebody who did it first and perhaps did it better than I will do. He has been an example for so many people around the world of what dedicated leadership can accomplish. And we are very grateful to him."

Whats going on here, why did Obama push Brown aside to meet with Blair first? Something fishy going on here?

I don't know what the protocol is but if I had a choice I'd rather meet Tony Blair before Gordon Brown as well. Hands down. But I think the OP may be on to something. Wouldn't protocol be to meet the current leadership before the previous ?? Dunno.

I think it was very gracious of Obama to meet and say such kind words to the future President of the EU.

Yea i totally agree that he should meet Blair first, without doubt! Brown just doesnt show any....well.....anything really. At least Blair has a sense of niceness about him, brown on the other hand doesnt show any kind of.......well......anything really

I just dont understand why he pushed Brown aside. Was Blair to " Update " Obama " on things before he met with Brown?

Ah, i see a bit of a connection there. The first white President of the European Union meets the first black President of the United States.

In unity to unite both blacks and whites around the world, all in the name of " New World Order ", perhaps?
