Ford to cut 850 UK jobs, wants pay review

LONDON — Ford Motor Co. said today it intends to cut as many as 850 jobs in Britain and that it wants to review this year's pay deal with workers.The layoffs represent nearly 7% of Ford's UK workforce of 12,900. The company said it would trim employment at its transit van plant in Southampton, England by up to 500 through a voluntary separation plan. The plant is now operating less than four shifts per week, the company said.

This follows Honda's shutting down plants in the UK. More folks without jobs.

I agree a 100% with the pay cut review only IF they start at the very top of management and work their way down. Management gets the heaviest pay cut and the lowest worker get the least pay cut.


Many more jobs to be lost. I know in my town they are closing a factory of 500 workers and other companies have already laid off hundreds more and on verge of shutdowns themselves.

I knew I should have gotten more boxes of those MRE's from Uncle Sam when that Hurricane blew by.
