Is Dick Cheney warning us of a nuclear attack or threatening us with one?

Former Vice President Dick Cheney warned that there is a “high probability” that terrorists will attempt a catastrophic nuclear or biological attack in coming years, and said he fears the Obama administration’s policies will make it more likely the attempt will succeed.

In an interview Tuesday with Politico, Cheney unyieldingly defended the Bush administration’s support for the Guantanamo Bay prison and coercive interrogation of terrorism suspects.

And he asserted that President Obama will either backtrack on his stated intentions to end those policies or put the country at risk in ways more severe than most Americans — and, he charged, many members of Obama’s own team — understand.

Even mainstream news is mentioning the possibility of prosecuting the former VP for war crimes. So as the noose tightens, one has to wonder what Chenney is warning us with here. Anyone know where the bailout out money is?

I really wouldn't lose any sleep over it, since Cheney doesn't have access to the codes. I don't think he had access to them to begin with.

He's saying "If you don't put things back to the way they were, just like we left them to suit our agenda, then we'll allow *cough* create *cough* a terrorist attack"

That's the way I read it.

Dick is just blowing smoke because he sees that most of his efforts to get out of being tried are slowly slipping away from him. I'm sure if there is a Nuclear attack he'll have been the one to give it to them and then attempt some weird "lets shoot the president in the face" and take office stating he thought he was a deer.

Poor Cheney....i guess he realize that selling his soul wouln't pan out in the end.

Biden pretty much said the same thing, you can youtube it. He said that the new pres is going to have to face a "serious" crisis soon and make some very very important decisions. Did anyone here ever watch the series "Jericho"? They cancelled it, maybe because they didn't want people to think or know it may be an inside job. Lower population a little, hey that's less unemployment dollars we have to spend. Create jobs, need clean up crews, and construction crews to rebuild. And we can blame it all on terrorists which we have been conditioned to. No one would even ask, "could this have been done by us to us?" There was mention on another thread of people who know of military personel who refused to carry out such attacks on our own navy in the ME.

Cheney said what he said for political reasons.
He was just handing Obama a ticking bomb, because many of you are going to post thread after thread about the "Great Cheney's" prediction if any terrorist attack happens in the next 4 to 8 years.

Of course who is going to get the blame now for any attack? Who is going to look like Nostradomus? What does Cheney risk by making this prediction? (nothing)

So what do you do if you were Obama? Keep the Bush Administration policies going? Even then, if something happens Cheney will be able to find someting Obama did that would be used to show some culpable deviation than the Bush Gang would or did do to "Protect" us.

Lose/Lose for Obama. Cheney is.....the nicest term for him is sociopath.

He is just posing and posturing. If we get hit with any attack I am not going to assume it was because we stopped being jerks to the rest of the world under this new administration, I am going to assume our heavy handed techniques in the past have made us some enemies that linger on.

I just want to ask Cheney ONE question if I ever meet him.

I agree with that, and perhaps I’m being overly cynical, but I see something much darker in his words. Even if he doesn’t have the ability to outsource an attack, the very insinuation might keep some of his declining loyalist on his side to the bitter end.

Obama says close GITMO in 1 year.
If we get attacked in 6 months Obama will do a 180 on GITMO.
