My favourite game growing up was the old dos game Red Baron.
You used to start off as a low ranked pilot, with some dodgy plane, and had to complete campaign missions to earn medals, ranks, new paintschemes, and
new planes.
The fun of a flightsim with the extra RPG-esque elements was great.
Is there any newish (2000s) games that have a really good campaign?
Flightsim can be from any era. WW1 / WW2 / modern etc.
What I am looking for though is a campaign that rewards you for your work. Not just a string of missions in the same plane with no incentive to go on,
but something that gradually works you up through the ranks and aircraft and/or rewards you for your work in the air.
Know any?
