I made a thread ages ago call the 'uk bomber gap' (or similar) in which I said this was going to be the case, but I think some thought I was just
scaremongering. The basic fact is the RAF cannot retire the Harrier until the F-35B is in service and this is still a very looooong way off. While
ever the Harrieer is in service it will need to be looked after.
Also, the Harrier is not a fighter and performs a vital job. The USAF A-10 is hardly high tech, and deliberately so, and that is going nowhere either.
