New Legislation Authorises FEMA camps in US

www.prisonplanet.com

A new bill introduced in Congress authorizes the Department of Homeland Security to set up a network of FEMA camp facilities to be used to house U.S. citizens in the event of a national emergency.

The National Emergency Centers Act or HR 645 mandates the establishment of “national emergency centers” to be located on military installations for the purpose of to providing “temporary housing, medical, and humanitarian assistance to individuals and families dislocated due to an emergency or major disaster,” according to the bill.

$ 180 million to build 6 new camps -

Bearing in mind the current economic crisis - What is the reasoning behind this expenditure?
I can only suggest that trouble is on the horizen - This is just too ominous !!!

"(b) Purpose of National Emergency Centers- The purpose of a national emergency center shall be to use existing infrastructure--

(1) to provide temporary housing, medical, and humanitarian assistance to individuals and families dislocated due to an emergency or major disaster;"

Nice find

I wouldn't have a problem with this if i was certain it was for emergency housing after a disaster of some kind. i'd be saying thumbs up for thinking ahead and most of all, thinking of the public for a change.

However, i can't get out of my head those pics a while back of the camps with the kind of gates you herd cattle through.

Lets hope we can get more info on where and how these things are being built. Would be cool to get a set of the blueprints for one of these "emergency accomodation areas" here on ATS for analysis.

Pay attention to what is left undefined.

(4) to meet other appropriate needs, as determined by the Secretary of Homeland Security.

Same source as op

How do you define appropriate needs?

This is already reported, see the other threads.

There is no such thing as a FEMA 'camp'.

Thanks

Excellent point.......and also, why does it have to be defined by the Secretary of Homeland Security? Unless of course they are going to be used for securing people rather than lok after them in an emergency.

I'm suprised they didn't just say "as determined by the POTUS", that way it kind of covers all the organisations under his watch....FEMA, DHS.....anything to do with the military you could care to think of.

Apologies Emsed1

I couldn't see anything in breaking news regarding this new legislation

I had to put in the title of the source - which was FEMA "camp" - not my wording!

Well....

...That sucks.

(I still think Prison Planet is still a lousy place to look for news, but that's just opinion and an off-topic one at that.)

Thank God, I was getting worried. Obviously, there's "no such thing" as this legislation, either.

Because prisonplanet is a proponent of terror. They use headlines like "FEMA Camps" to draw on fear and to sensationalize a topic. There are MANY bills/legislation that has been passed over the last 100 years that you could make some scary headline out of. This one is no different and im glad it passed.

Heaven forbid if there was some horrible disaster that left people homeless or without food and water, then everyone would be BASHING the gov't for never having planned for the catastrophe and not having something in place. Finally they are being proactive rather than REACTIVE.
