All was going well until that stupid old fool ran his mouth and opened a new cut. It appears that racisim is alive and well in the black community.
Whites have it right and blacks are deciding to stay in the back. What a wasted opportunity to bring people together. Lets be happy that old black & white fools like that will not live much longer. I felt like I was listing to a J. Jackson jingle. As a white person it made me not want to ever vote black again!!!!!

I watched the prayer in passing while at work. I could not believe what I heard. I was truely offended. Preach unity, and yet say what he said?? The last thing yesterday should have been about was color. A chance to rise above it all....and he says that..in a prayer no less. But it is afterall the Rev. J Lowery and I expect nothing less from that racist.

It was pretty awful, but nothing surprising.

Equality never means real equality when it comes to racialist campaigners.

Sharpton, Lowery et al are stifling real progress in order to suit their own twisted ideas. They're really just dinosaurs from another era.

What was shocking was that he was invited to speak at the inaugration though... bad choice Barack.

Well, I know nothing about this particular preacher or Rick Warren for that matter, so if I could, let me give an outside opinion in regard to both men's prayers.

Aside from the jest of what Lowery said, which, I think shouldn't be taken offensively, his prayer, to me at least, was sincere, as being generated from the heart. Whereas, the prayer offered up by Warren, appeared very scripted and not as genuine.

Please, keep in mind, I am not siding with one or the other because, honestly , I don't listen to, nor, have I heard anything previously said by them, as in preaching, whether via text or audio.

"Let yellow be mellow"; "Let white do what is right" is just in jest?!

Come now, even if it was in jest you have to admit those words are fairly racially charged.

What would happen if Warren had delivered an invocation which said "Let black go back" or something equally contentious.

Lowery tried to conceal his true agenda by the use of what at first glance appears to be innocent rhyming... until you consider that this was a prayer being delivered at the inaugration of a President.

I don't think it was appropriate simply because it is out of sync with the true equality agenda. Of course, many others disagree and see it as innocuous.

I was watching at work, and I was like "Did he just say what I thought he said?" It was at the best inappropriate, and at the worst, racist. The inauguration should have been about bringing people of all races together, and instead this reminded people of Obama's relationship with Jeremiah Wright. Lowery was talking about the future, not the past, when he said "When white will embrace what is right." Didn't whites in large numbers help elect Obama in the first place?

I wouldn't have thought it was so bad until I heard the part about white doing what's right. Basically, if it was about how everyone can get ahead instead of how only the people of color can get ahead while it's up to the white people to do what's right...I wouldn't have hated it. It was ok up until that part.

Apparently it's part of some civil rights song though. But he could have ammended that part since, you know, it's 200fricking9.
