A thought I had on MLKJr's assasination

Today I went to city hall with a friend of mine to put in a job application for the local park department. When we got there, we saw a sign on the door reading "Closed Monday for Martin Luther King Jr's Birthday". We were both a little annoyed, seeing as how we both need a job.

But, later after I dropped him off at his house, I got to thinking, what if his assasination was to done to intentionally make him a martyr?

I've heard other theories concerning the motive behind his assasination, but I have not heard anyone ask this question before. What do ya'll think? Is it possible, or am I just rambling on like a conspiracy nut?
