I am an Englishman. We invented democracy. God doesn't roll our dice. We do.
If an English politician stood up on a podium and professed their profound desire to be driven by God, they would be out of a job inside twenty four hours (Tony Blair is a point in case, pretty good skin until he started shouting about God, after meeting 'W').
Most rational minded people find it utterly unbelievable that your president HAS GOT TO ACTIVELY PROVE his allegiance to God ... and then keep on doing so at the end of every public address.
Think about it. The only other set of people who rant and rave about God as much as Americans do are the 'bad' guys ... religious fanatics is what you call them. Fancy that?
American version of God wanders around Wallmart wearing a pinstripe suit and smoking a stogie (not a real Cuban one), instead of rustling up some goat curry in a cave somewhere whilst drying out his loincloth over an open hearth?
