Ageing is genetically controlled by a specific gene,
This in lamens terms is often just referred to as the 'master gene'
A few years back a couple of the 'main' governments blocked further research into altering this gene in humans,
Even though the scientists had successfully altered the gene in worms & mice (and a couple of other animals)
so that they were able to live until twice their age (the worms lived even longer than twice)
