I raise my hat for every soldiers in the world.

As Im completing my papers to join the Canadian Army, I feel so proud and happy and I also feel that our soldiers need a ''THANK YOU'' because they all work very hard and it doesn't matters from which country the soldier is from because being a soldier is mentally and physically hard.
I raise my hat to every SOLDIERS in the world who fight for their causes, some may fight because they're told to do so but every soldiers in the WORLD must sacrifice alot of his life for their country and I think that being a soldier is one of the hardest job in the world .

This is something they have to do.. leave everything behind for month to survive in another country, to fight for their causes. RESPECT!

They must train alot to be as much ready as they can before they leave their country, they are still happy, happy to be alive!

Wherever you are form doesn't matter, as long as you fight for freedom and peace you deserve a ''Thank you'' and a lot of respect because you soldiers fight for us and you represent your country, we respect your job even if alot of people are ignorant of what you guys do.

I raise my hat once again for you folks, love your job, I'll see you soon... in the Army!

Congratulations.

You have become a pawn to fight for the interests of the wealthy.
You will probably be sent to oppress people in foreign lands, after being indoctrinated with lies about why you must fight there.
You will most likely kill, or help to kill, innocent women and children.

When you have finished with fighting, you will discover society is wary of returned soldiers, and the government will be reluctant to care for you medically.

That said, I wish you well and hope you mature in the areas where military life has so much to teach and survive without being harmed or doing harm.

One suggestion, anything you have to do, imagine the situation reversed, and see how you would feel about it then.

Being a free thinking Canadian citizen myself, i have to agree.

You've become a pawn, it's great to think that your going over there to fight for freedom and democracy, but there is something you need to realize.

WE are the most enslaved people on the planet, we just have this false idea of freedom.

I wish you the best of luck, if you feel it is something you must do, just don't be surprised when the end result is chaos rather than peace.

As you are right with the facts that they ship our soldiers in the Middle East to fight for a false freedom and that a lot of them come back.. affected.. and some don't even come back.

Have you ever heard about the war in Afghanistan ?
We are there because we'Ve been lied to and I know it but I believe that a lot of children and women in Afghanistan want the Taliban's era to stop, because the talibans are doing # there, they don't even care about their population, they just have big guns which they use against their own people. Those are the ones we MUST remove, this is why Im doing it , not to kill people or whatever, Im not even an infantry soldier, I'll build bridges and stuff like that.

I know that the situation is a little sketchy in the Middle East but hey, Im not in the US Army, Im in the Canadian one, I won't join the war in Iraq which is REALLY BS. I know that our country is corrupted and that we always follow the USA but not in the Iraq war, just the Afg one which I feel like there is alot of stuff left to be done here.

I don't kill, I build a life for people who CAN'T afford the things that we have here in Canada. The only way I can go help there is by joining the military.

Well to be honest, I don't care about what people think about me , but I know for sure that Im joining the military for the RIGHT reasons even if they always fight for lies... Because I want this to change, I fight for my causes, I don't care what people think, I want peace and freedom after all.

People only see the bad side from a war, off course there are ALOT more WRONG than RIGHT in wars but wherever there is WRONG there is also RIGHT stuff.

If 100 soldiers die in a war, that's 100 families burying their fellow ones.

If those same soldiers weren't there, maybe 150 would be dead by now because there will always BE an Army in each country if we don't change and we aren't even close to change because we're DUMB, BUT if we can have good soldiers that think before acting, then we might lose less soldiers than if we send idiots. Imma be a worker / builder, if I can help those people who need help, then I'll be more than happy to be there for them because they need interventions in their country,.. but they need a good one.

I want to help the middle east people, but the only way I can help them is by joining the forces... it's not a so selfishly thing after all is it?

Being a former military man myself, and having a step-father and uncles, cousins and many friends that have served I salute you.
I know military service isnt for everyone especialy in times of conflicts or wars but those that do choose to serve I feel have always taken that step beyond being a responsible citizen of any country and make a difference in the world.

Thats not true.
Its your politicians, and governments that wars or conflicts exist, not the common soldier.
Do some research on history before you make such assumptions for a persons reasons to choose to serve.

Please remember now you have to oppress,murder,rape,torture, and kill everyone within ten feet of you. That includes small animals,birds, and fish. Oh, and whenever you see anything good happening you have to smash it with your standard issue combat boot. If it's to big to smash with your combat boot, you may use a standard issue trench shovel. You are now automatically a racist,tough guy,dumb,egotistical,murderer. You will never have anything good in your life because god, in fact, hates you. Your mother is now your countrys standard issue rife, your father is napalm, and you are to be re-birthed in a bomb crater. You will bleed new ammo and sweat gasoline. You will automatically forget how to read and think for yourself. Is there anything else that I missed? Oh, and you have to get a chevron tattoo depicting the little toy chevron cars, with "I love oil" above it.

Seriously, I like the way people post on threads they don't even read, I server in the Canadian army as what we call a Sappeur( Well in french its how we call them).

I remove mines( you know, the ones Afghans, Canadians, Americans and so on.. have been walking on and who also died ) . I build infrastructure and buildings for the countries that can't afford it.

I must be a bad soldier after all? I risk my life to help others, talk about a bad man I am!

I had a lot of respect for my little niece, 17 years old, when she joined the army. She is now 18 years old and has to leave to Afghanistan next month...for 6 months. To fight Bush's war....grrrrr.

I asked her a question because I read here on ATS someone asked a relative who was in the US army if he would shoot him if he was ordered to. I asked her the same, straight forward, I am a threath would you shoot me point blank, she looked me in the eyes and without any doubt she said YES. (I was shocked but did not show it and at the sametime I feld so sad) I asked her if she needed no reason but she said, No, if it is a order then I procede and maybe I will ask explanation afterwarts...

My respect is 0% now...
