Israeli troops 'shot at from Syria'

english.aljazeera.net

Israeli troops in the occupied Golan Heights have come under small arms fire from Syria, Israeli military officials have said.

No one was injured in the incident on Sunday, but it was been reported to the United Nations force that monitors the area, an Israeli army spokesman said.

"In the afternoon, there were a number of bullets fired from Syria at an Israeli army force doing engineering work near the fence," he said.

"No one was hurt but a vehicle was damaged.

This was from the Al Jazeera website. I really hope that this isnt leading to something bigger in the region. We still havnt had much news about the Aid ship from Iran, It will be very interesting to see what happens when this aid ship tries to dock. But this is a joke the people of gaza need help to defend themselves.

Hey, its easy to type that on ATS or anywhere on the internet. I bet you wouldn't have the balls to say that to an Israeli Soldier!

I know it in fashion to hate Israel right now, but to say that about anyone is just not on.

Well now it's on the Israel-Jordan border

Next, will it be on ht Egypt-Israel border how are the egyptians too coward?

Israel need to be stopped, the international community should force them. If they don't impose economic sanctions on Israel as long as they impose economic sanctions on the palestinians.

I am not surprised. Many people are furious at Israel, but they are also furious at their country for not doing anything.

No doubt these are civilians and not armies of Syria or Jordan. These countries propagate against Israel, but know Israel will win in a conventional war with the U.S. backing them, and maybe even without direct help from the U.S.

I am not one to try to do any predictions, but I wouldn't be surprised if some people in Syria/Jordan/Egypt will see this and join in with the people currently shooting at the border. Unless the country puts up more forces on the border to prevent the civilians from yanking the country into the current conflict.
