UK e-mail law 'attack on rights'

Rules forcing internet companies to keep details of every e-mail sent in the UK are a waste of money and an attack on civil liberties, critics say.
From March all Internet Service Providers (ISPs) will by law have to keep information about every e-mail sent or received in the UK for a year.
The government will pay the ISPs more than £25m to ensure work runs smoothly.

First we had Australia’s push for internet censorship now we have the UK recording emails.

The world need to be aware of the “Internet New Order” , will it mean the end of the internet as we know it.

I do hope this is not true or likely to happen

Okay, spammers! Launch a massive bombardment of UK emails. This dumbass government should be kept busy. They have their work cut out for them.

The excuse as always is that it's a security measure to protect us all from the bogeymen out there that would do us harm.

The problem with that excuse is that, unless there is some system in place scanning emails for trigger words or phrases, it becomes entirely useless. Sure, after an event, when the possible perps have been identified, they can go back and retrieve emails sent and received by them, but that's a serious case of closing the barn door after the horse has bolted!

...and one more thing. They'll need one helluva spam filter too judging by all the junk emails I get.

Yea you can laugh but...

Just like down here in Aus where the Gov is spending big on censorship.

No let’s see which country will be next with something else, they are all testing how far the public can be pushed.
