Not sure if this has been posted - but it made my blood boil!

A headmistress from Sheffield is banning the word "school" and replacing it with "place of learning" because - the word "school" upsets the parents (negative connotations)?!!!

“we want this to be a place for family learning........
There are no bells or locked doors. We wanted to de-institutionalise the place and bring the school closer to real life.”

I wonder if she has been on one of these sinister common purpose courses?

I just hope to god that she is an isolated mad case and this is not the shape of things to come

I think this will be a good experiment. If it works than great, lets do it to all schools. If it doesn’t then we can tar and feather her. Regardless something needs to be done with schools so any change is in the right direction. Lets just hope that direction doesn’t lead to bad destination.

Really what does it matter whether you call it a school or a place for learning. If the kids are getting an education call it Hell for all I care.
That's what I called it any way.

Isn't that kind of like how religion changed the word synagogue with church?

Wonder if one day people will start thinking a "school" and a "place of learning" are 2 different things.
