Man...the things people will complain about.

Enjoy the eye candy.

You do understand that we are talking about CHILDREN hear, yes?

Most people who consider children "eye candy" have some issues.

I wont go as far as saying you do, because im under the impression that you werent aware we were speaking if children.

That said, the sexualization of children (especially girls) is becoming more and more common, largely thanks to television. What ever happened to being innocent and care free?

Ive seen ads for thongs made specifically for 2 year olds... Disturbing really. I miss the days in which children didnt have to worry about looking "sexy" . I miss the days in which children could be children and not have to dress like adults.

I find it sad that adults are corrupting the minds of the youth. Let kids be kids and let adults be adults.

When kids start to act like adults or vice-versa, then you start to see real issues.

Well said and all so true!

When i was 13 i still felt like i was 10 and was carefree and didnt care about my looks. This only helps to drive consumerism and plastic surgery leading to a perfect good
looking society but to that which is a fake society and parents who fall for it have their children fall for it.
Why else did the plastic surgery industry push Pamela Anderson to be the perfect plastic icon every person admires so that they can look like her and drive the cosmetic industry for people to seek perfection. They pushed natural beauty and curvaceousness so far deep in the ground to make people feel they need to change themselves to be beautiful and its driven into them. They want people to be stick thin so they are infertile, they make the image of barbie be what everyone wants. When deep down hips will always be apart of mans natural instincts to procreate but they are confused because the media gives them the idea to be with a stick thin woman.
Man dont realise they are beign blessed when they have a curvy and childbearing hipped women who can have their children which they are trying to scrap.

I disagree.

I am a parent and I have a choice. I wish sometimes that I was Amish or a Mennonite, just to keep my kids away from the popular culture. But even though I am living in modern America, I still do have a choice - I can say NO. And I often do.

My kids can complain all they want, whine and moan, slam the door, yell if they have to. I stick to my guns. They will thank me for it later.

But I agree that the media culture is atrociously sexualizing and consumerizing the young and it is VERY difficult to combat it.

outtahere you are to be applauded for sticking to your guns and I agree they will thank you for it. I know that I thank the God for the parents that I had that they showed me that I couldn't have what ever I wanted.

Indeedy, seeing as how at the moment I live at home. My friends, my girl friend, and my nieces all wear what I'd consider decent clothing, while both of my sisters wear clothing that reveals a good deal more than makes me comfortable with.
I've seen very stylish clothing that at the same time showed very little skin.
That said, I'm not one for the popular crowd, but even there i've noticed a good deal of clothing that's more in line with my acclaimed old fashioned sensibilities.

It's funny that people are mentioning clothing. It maybe just me, but have you notice that there's more material on the "how to wash" tag then the actual piece of clothing.

It's ridiculous how the media and big brand companies market these kind of scandalous things to our teens. I even saw light up/see through platform high heels marketed at 9 year olds!!!!

And these mindsets the media are instilling are not helping witht he issues of self esteem in women either. Always having to strive to look like that girl on TV is ruining their self perspective.

In any case, i'm happy i raised my children to be anylitical and question what they're told about the way things work.

Let’s not even mention the “beauty pageants” . It makes me sick to see those little girls all caked up with make-up, looking quite whorish, I might add. The idea of what is beautiful is implanted at an early age by society. It is solely up to the parents or guardians of the children to teach them that they are beautiful they way they are. There is truly nothing sadder then when you see an insecure child.
