Is it just a coincidence that around the same time the Jewish people were returning to their land, and the European power finally neutralized the 1,300 year threat that Islam had posed to them and the Republic of Turkey abolished the office of Caliph... that the most valuable resource in the world was being discovered throughout the Arab/Muslim/Persian lands.

It is Arab Oil that has been the seduction of the entire world…and the enticement and leverage to bring the world against Israel especially since the 1970s.

It is oil that is funding the revival of Islam and the Jihad that goes along with any revitalization of orthodox Islam

If we look at the world today.. what else other than oil meets the common thread of all the biblical prophecies below?

Keeping in mind that the Bible calls out the specific nations that will be judged at the 2nd Coming as being the Arab/Muslim nations of today? Especially compare Jeremiah 51 with Rev 17/18.. They’re almost the same in describing how the wealth of the world comes from Babylon and the merchants of the world are devastated upon Babylon’s destruction. Jer 51 is very big chapter, I may or not put the whole thing.

After these verses I'll have a little to say about how the way the City of Babylon is described in Rev 18 is very similiar to today's Saudi Arabia.

Habakkuk 2

Be sure of this! The Lord who commands armies has decreed

The nations’ efforts will go up in smoke; their exhausting work will be for nothing. For recognition of the Lord’s sovereign majesty will fill the earth just as the waters fill up the sea. “You who force your neighbor to drink wine are as good as dead – you who make others intoxicated by forcing them to drink from the bowl of your furious anger, so you can look at their genitals.

But you will become drunk with shame, not majesty. Now it is your turn to drink and expose your uncircumcised foreskin! The cup of wine in the Lord’s right hand is coming to you, and disgrace will replace your majestic glory! For you will pay in full for your violent acts against Lebanon; terrifying judgment will come upon you because of the way you destroyed the wild animals living there. You have shed human blood and committed violent acts against lands, cities, and those who live in them.

Jeremiah 25

So the Lord, the God of Israel, spoke to me in a vision. “Take this cup from my hand. It is filled with the wine of my wrath. Take it and make the nations to whom I send you drink it When they have drunk it, they will stagger to and fro and act insane. For I will send wars sweeping through them.”

So I took the cup from the Lord’s hand. I made all the nations to whom he sent me drink the wine of his wrath. I made Jerusalem and the cities of Judah, its kings and its officials drink it. I did it so Judah would become a ruin. I did it so Judah, its kings, and its officials would become an object of horror and of hissing scorn, an example used in curses. Such is already becoming the case! I made all of these other people drink it Pharaoh, king of Egypt; his attendants, his officials, his people, the foreigners living in Egypt; all the kings of the land of Uz; all the kings of the land of the Philistines, the people of Ashkelon, Gaza, Ekron, the people who had been left alive from Ashdod; all the people of Edom, Moab, Ammon; all the kings of Tyre, all the kings of Sidon; all the kings of the coastlands along the sea; the people of Dedan, Tema, Buz, all the desert people who cut their hair short at the temples; all the kings of Arabia who live in the desert; all the kings of Zimri; all the kings of Elam; all the kings of Media; all the kings of the north, whether near or far from one another; and all the other kingdoms which are on the face of the earth. After all of them have drunk the wine of the Lord’s wrath, the king of Babylon must drink it.

Then the Lord said to me, “Tell them that the Lord God of Israel who rules over all says, ‘Drink this cup until you get drunk and vomit. Drink until you fall down and can’t get up. For I will send wars sweeping through you.’ If they refuse to take the cup from your hand and drink it, tell them that the Lord who rules over all says ‘You most certainly must drink it! For take note, I am already beginning to bring disaster on the city that I call my own. So how can you possibly avoid being punished? You will not go unpunished! For I am proclaiming war against all who live on the earth. I, the Lord who rules over all, affirm it!’

Jeremiah 31

Babylonia had been a gold cup in the Lord’s hand. She had made the whole world drunk. The nations had drunk from the wine of her wrath. So they have all gone mad.

For the Lord is ready to destroy Babylon, and put an end to her loud noise. Their waves will roar like turbulent waters. They will make a deafening noise. For a destroyer is attacking Babylon. Her warriors will be captured; their bows will be broken. For the Lord is a God who punishes; he pays back in full.

“I will make her officials and wise men drunk, along with her governors, leaders, and warriors. They will fall asleep forever and never wake up,” says the King whose name is the Lord who rules over all. This is what the Lord who rules over all says, “Babylon’s thick wall will be completely demolished. Her high gates will be set on fire. The peoples strive for what does not satisfy. The nations grow weary trying to get what will be destroyed.”

Revelation 14

A second angel followed the first, declaring “Fallen, fallen is Babylon the great city! She made all the nations drink of the wine of her immoral passion.”

Revelation 16

Finally the seventh angel poured out his bowl into the air and a loud voice came out of the temple from the throne, saying “It is done!” Then there were flashes of lightning, roaring, and crashes of thunder, and there was a tremendous earthquake – an earthquake unequaled since humanity has been on the earth, so tremendous was that earthquake. The great city was split into three parts and the cities of the nations collapsed. So Babylon the great was remembered before God, and was given the cup filled with the wine made of God’s furious wrath

Revelation 17

Then one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls came and spoke to me. “Come,” he said, “I will show you the condemnation and punishment of the great prostitute who sits on many waters, with whom the kings of the earth committed sexual immorality and the earth’s inhabitants got drunk with the wine of her immorality.”
Now the woman was dressed in purple and scarlet clothing, and adorned with gold, precious stones, and pearls. She held in her hand a golden cup filled with detestable things and unclean things from her sexual immorality. For God has put into their minds to carry out his purpose by making a decision to give their royal power to the beast until the words of God are fulfilled. As for the woman you saw, she is the great city that has sovereignty over the kings of the earth.”

Revelation 18

For all the nations have fallen from the wine of her immoral passion, and the kings of the earth have committed sexual immorality with her, and the merchants of the earth have gotten rich from the power of her sensual behavior.”
Repay her the same way she repaid others; pay her back double corresponding to her deeds. In the cup she mixed, mix double the amount for her. As much as she exalted herself and lived in sensual luxury, to this extent give her torment and grief because she said to herself, ‘I rule as queen and am no widow; I will never experience grief!’ For this reason, she will experience her plagues in a single day disease, mourning, and famine, and she will be burned down with fire, because the Lord God who judges her is powerful!”

Then the kings of the earth who committed immoral acts with her and lived in sensual luxury with her will weep and wail for her when they see the smoke from the fire that burns her up. They will stand a long way off because they are afraid of her torment, and will say, … “Woe, woe, O great city, Babylon the powerful city! For in a single hour your doom has come!”
The merchants who sold these things, who got rich from her, will stand a long way off because they are afraid of her torment. They will weep and mourn, saying,

“Woe, woe, O great city – dressed in fine linen, purple and scarlet clothing, and adorned with gold, precious stones, and pearls –

because in a single hour such great wealth has been destroyed!” And every ship’s captain, and all who sail along the coast – seamen, and all who make their living from the sea, stood a long way off and began to shout when they saw the smoke from the fire that burned her up, “Who is like the great city?” And they threw dust on their heads and were shouting with weeping and mourning,

“Woe, Woe, O great city – in which all those who had ships on the sea got rich from her wealth – because in a single hour she has been destroyed!”

Even the light from a lamp will never shine in you again! The voices of the bridegroom and his bride will never be heard in you again. For your merchants were the tycoons of the world, because all the nations were deceived by your magic spells! The blood of the saints and prophets was found in her, along with the blood of all those who had been killed on the earth.

That is Islam…through its oil , the nations betray the Jews for money.

Saudi Arabia today fits the description of Rev 18 very well.

It is indeed through its oil that the modern world has its wealth. Without, the world economy would collapse.

Near 100% of Saudi Arabia's trade is via Ship.

Saudi is surrounded by water on both sides and ships coasting up and down those coats and can be said to see a great deal of destruction of the coastal commercial areas.

Arab countries import thier labor from overseas. so this matches with the warning for workers to flee Babylon and go to thier home country.

Saudi Arabia has to import just about all goods because they dont make any.

Islam has been a scourge on the earth since it was invented. No part of the world has been free from its attacks nor are any free from its extortion.

The principle way of destruction is its burning. And when it burns, the smoke is very dark and the fire intense. That is the oil burning.

In Isaiah 34 there is this warning

34:9 Edom’s streams will be turned into pitch
and her soil into brimstone;
her land will become burning pitch.

Night and day it will burn;
its smoke will ascend continually.
Generation after generation it will be a wasteland
and no one will ever pass through it again.

Edom is to the southeast of Israel , around the area where Jordan Israel and Saudi Arabia meet now.

Pitch is oil. there will be rivers it , burning forever.

I know my theory here is a bit of a stretch. But with the constant cup symbolism and how whatever is in this cup has a material and pragmatic worldly power, I can think of no other material, earthly thing other than oil that otherwise poor Muslims can blackmail the world with.

Before you dismiss this idea. do remember one of the very first prophecies about the world was made in Genesis. It involved the pregnancy of a slavegirl and the ultimate fate of her son 1- That he would have a ton of descendants 2 -that he would be in conflict with the rest of the world forever and 3 - He will not assimilate:

Genesis 16:9 Then the Lord’s angel said to her (Hagar, the Egyptian), “Return to your mistress (Sara, Abram's wife) and submit to her authority. I will greatly multiply your descendants,” the Lord’s angel added, “so that they will be too numerous to count.”

Then the Lord’s angel said to her,

“You are now pregnant
and are about to give birth to a son.
You are to name him Ishmael,
for the Lord has heard your painful groans.

He will be a wild donkey of a man.
He will be hostile to everyone,
and everyone will be hostile to him.
He will live away from his brothers.”

I remember reading your post. Somehow, I don't see God playing games. Maybe it's just me.

When Hagar had her son, you have to know she was getting a bit uppity, and rubbing it in that she was the one who had bore Abraham a son. Sounds like she would pass down these contentious qualities to her son, and probably encouraged it a bit.

Poor Abraham. Stuck in the middle.

Apparently, things went too far, and they had to go. Contentious? Unable to get along with anyone?

Sounds like the modern-day descendents of Ismael.

This is an interesting prophecy, and certainly fits the current situation.

Yes I remember your post. I think I finally made time to respond to it and agree wiht you. but I know I was late getting to it.

I think there's a reason that so much effort was put into documenting the start of the Arab people in the Bible. Was it just because it was interesting or was it so that people in a later time would understand teh forces at play.

Here is a little known part from the New Testament that references Hagar and Ishmael ... I think you've alluded to this.

Galatians 4:21 Tell me, you who want to be under the law, do you not understand the law? For it is written that Abraham had two sons, one by the slave woman and the other by the free woman. But one, the son by the slave woman, was born by natural descent, while the other, the son by the free woman, was born through the promise. These things may be treated as an allegory, for these women represent two covenants.

One is from Mount Sinai bearing children for slavery; this is Hagar. Now Hagar represents Mount Sinai in Arabia and corresponds to the present Jerusalem, for she is in slavery with her children. But the Jerusalem above is free, and she is our mother. For it is written:

“Rejoice, O barren woman who does not bear children;
break forth and shout, you who have no birth pains,
because the children of the desolate woman are more numerous
than those of the woman who has a husband.”

But you, brothers and sisters, are children of the promise like Isaac. But just as at that time the one born by natural descent persecuted the one born according to the Spirit, so it is now. But what does the scripture say? “Throw out the slave woman and her son, for the son of the slave woman will not share the inheritance with the son” of the free woman. Therefore, brothers and sisters, we are not children of the slave woman but of the free woman.

What's important about that is ... Islam hadn't even been invented yet... And even so Paul is
- Calling the Ishmaelites slaves.. And when Islam comes, they are slaves. You'll see "O slave to Allah" a lot in Islamic text referring to Mohemmed or to Muslims in general.

- Saying that Ishmael will persecute Isaac. Jews and by extension Christians, are sons of Isaac.

Islam comes as a reform to both Judaism and Christianity. And the Islamic End Time is said to eliminate from the world Jews and the Christian religion.

Cut oil sales to Israel's backers-Iranian commander

Cut oil sales to Israel's backers-Iranian commander
Sun 4 Jan 2009, 15:47 GMT

TEHRAN, Jan 4 (Reuters) - An Iranian military commander called on Islamic countries to cut oil exports to Israel's supporters in response to the Jewish state's offensive in Gaza, the official IRNA news agency reported on Sunday.

IRNA said commander Bagherzadeh described oil as "one of the powerful elements of pressure" on the Jewish state's Western backers in the "unequal war" faced by Palestinians in the coastal strip.

"Pointing at Westerners' dependence on the Islamic countries' oil and energy resources, he (Bagherzadeh) called for cutting the export of crude oil to the Zionist regime's supporters the world over," IRNA said, referring to Israel.

IRNA gave only the commander's last name but it may have been referring to Mirfeysal Bagherzadeh, a brigadier-general of Iran's elite Revolutionary Guards. There was no immediate comment from other Iranian officials.

Iran, which often rails against the United States and Israel, is the world's fourth-largest oil producer and a leading member of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC). Top exporter Saudi Arabia is a U.S. ally.

Israeli soldiers and Palestinian militants battled in Gaza on Sunday after Israeli troops and tanks invaded the coastal enclave in the most serious fighting in the conflict in decades.

Israel's attacks on Gaza have sparked repeated protests in Iran, an Islamic state which does not recognise Israel.

In 1973, Arab countries directed an oil embargo at Israel's supporters in the Arab-Israeli war, causing the first oil shock. Primarily the United States but also Japan, the Netherlands, Portugal and South Africa were affected. The price of oil quadrupled to almost $12 a barrel and inflation infected the economies of other industrialised countries.

Crude is now trading at about $46 after plunging by some $100 since July on the global financial crisis and a weakening world economy.

IRNA, which did not provide direct supporting quotes, said Bagherzadeh was speaking about the measures Islamic countries could take in response to Israel's attacks on Gaza.

"Among the tactics the world of Islam can use to help the innocent Palestinian people, Bagherzadeh called oil one of the powerful elements of pressure on the Zionists' European and American supporters in the unequal war," IRNA said.

Bagherzadeh is the director of Iran's Foundation for the Preservation of Works and Publications of Sacred Defence Values, IRNA said.

Iran is embroiled in a row with the West over its nuclear programme and has in the past threatened to close the Strait of Hormuz, a strategic transport route for global oil supplies, if it is attacked by the United States or Israel.
