RICHMOND, Calif. - Two men and two teens have been arrested on suspicion of gang-raping a woman last month in the San Francisco Bay area while allegedly taunting her for being a lesbian, police said Thursday.

Officers arrested Humberto Hernandez Salvador at his Richmond home Wednesday night, Richmond police Lt. Mark Gagan said. The 31-year-old is being held without bail on gang rape, kidnapping and carjacking charges.

WTF!!!! You've got to read this article.

This is so disturbing on so many levels.

Why would people want to rape a woman who is clearly gay?? I just don't get it. Is it for the power or the challenge to possibly "convert" her??

I'm not pro or anti gay. I guess that my feeling on this are that if you're lucky enough to be in love with someone who loves you back...fine..live life and be happy.

This woman had a rainbow sticker in her back window clearly identifying her sexual orientation.

The Effing a-holes should all be shot for the horrible hate crime.

Some consolation is that they are behind bars for the moment.

I understand how you feel, but shooting the people responsible for the rape isn't going to change things. Neither will it make it right. As you can see, there are still people out in the world who are ignorant. The best thing to do is to educate those people who do things like that.

Gay or not, no woman deserves to be raped, much less gang raped.

I wish upon these guys many Giant Salamis for many years to come once they are sentenced to prison.

They will never have to ask where's the beef because they will know exactly where it is.

Well I believe that male rapists need to be emasculated and thrown into prison so they have a permanent reminder of their crime against women.

I really don't think you can educate the hate away. I say shoot em. Sets a good example for the rest of their kind.

For a woman to be raped is always an horrific crime but I imagine that for a lesbian perhaps this is even more abhorrent and psychologically damaging.

I am so saddened for the victim and I hope these rapists are dealt with so that justice is served properly. Emasculation is a start.

Why would anyone want to rape a fellow human being at all,gay or otherwise?

In cases like this though, such men usually have the attitude that lesbians need to know what its like to be with 'a real man' and other such BS.

this wasn't a hate crime

Yes it was.

According to the the Local Law Enforcement Hate Crimes Prevention Act of 2007,a hate crime is a criminal offense committed against a person or property motivated,in whole or in part,by the offender's bias against a racial group, religion, ethnicity, gender, sexual preference,or disability. The offense is considered a hate crime whether or not the offender's perception of the victim as a member or supporter of a protected group is correct.

It still wouldn't make things right. Yes what those guys did was wrong but if someone was to shoot the guys who raped that woman, then that person would be twice as wrong.

Justice is meant to be objective, and not tainted by what are clearly personal issues with you, since this is the second time you've suggested that.

Mutilating anyone in such a way is sick, no matter what the reason, and you might want to look into the reasons why you are suggesting it, for your own psychological well-being.

You have got to be kidding me?

I have no personal issue with rape but I am a woman and it is usually a crime against women.

And no I have never been raped, and am not a lesbian. Happily married to a MAN with three grown sons. lol:

Horrific crimes often call for horrific justice...in my opinion anyway.

Just go on thinking that you know me and that I am psychologically messed up

Too bad she wasn't armed, four less rapists in the world is a nice start.

You can't educate these people. If you don't know that raping someone is wrong then it's too late for you, cause you can't cure stupid.

I hope this woman gets the therapy she is going to need, and doesn't hold it against all men for the rest of her life. These men will get what they deserve.

How horrific. It is only worsened by the fact that two very young men were included as aggressors in the attack--quite an example to set, isn't it? Any individual who would choose to participate in the kidnapping and gang rape of another human being can only reasonably be kept in prison for the entirety of their lives. This is not something that we want to mess around with, test our "cures" on--societal safety cannot risk it. The same should be said for all sexual offenders, but especially those with violent proclivities. Enough of this "rehabilitation" nonsense.

I dont want to sound racist here but, I work with quite a few Spanish, both Mexican and Puerto Rican and from the names in the article they seem to have a viceral hatred of gays both male and female. Must be the machismo! This is my opinion and mine alone from my own experience working with them for a few years. I can only speak from what I have seen and heard but it is the truth. It seems to be endemic in this segment of humanity, more so than others I run into.
Hope I didn't offend anyone!

Excuse me, I know that raping a person is wrong and I'm not stupid.

When I said educate, I was talking about teaching people who are ignorant that they need to tolerate other people's lifestyles.

Next time don't jump to such a conclusion because it makes you look dumb.

Like that is going to make her want to prefer men...give me (and her) a break! Rape is certainly the more serious "offense"....

I think that's a fair observation. I believe it has a lot to do with the deep Catholicism and traditional gender roles that are so ingrained in most hispanic cultures.

That raises a good point.

The word justice and the justice system are two separate things.

The word indicates an eye for an eye. If you do X crime to someone, then perfect justice means that X crime has to be committed to you in return.

The justice system however is not based on justice, but more along the lines of either A: Fix the problem, or B: Put the problem out of sight and mind by locking it up.

There are two types of crimes in my eyes, 1)those you are driven to do by events at the time (self defense, defense of others, revenge, etc.
... and 2)crimes that are intentionally carried out, knowing that it is indeed a crime.

I feel that for type 1 crimes, the justice systems version of justice works fine.
But for type 2 crimes, the literal meaning of justice should be applied with an "eye for an eye" style response.

Unfortunately, the only way I can see the literal version of justice being carried out would be to lock him up with 4 very morally strict criminals (yes, they exist) with him clearly marked as "rapist".
Let the dogs eat the dogs.
