I have continued to educate myself about what's really going on in this world of ours. I know almost nothing for sure, but I'm fairly certain that the version of reality that has been portrayed in newspapers, magazines, and TV and radio programs is incomplete and often false.

Part of this old man wants the lid to be blown off of this wicked exploitation of planet Earth by dark forces, but the tired part of me just wants to get through the last portion of my life before that lid goes flying off.

If I actually get a choice, I think I'd chose to be here when the manure hits the fan. How can you pass up the opportunity to be present during these momentous times?

Do other "old" people have an opinion about whether the lid should stay or go?

I'm 37 so I don't know if you'd consider me old, I for one though would like the lid to be taken off the world, so that the light may shine down on our faces as we look up to the heavens.
There is too much corruption in ALL the worlds government at present and everyone is out to look after themselves.

Here in the UK its no more prevalent than if you look in the papers and see that knife crime is on the up with 6 killings a week. There was none if rare of that when I was a pup.

These days there is no respect for anyone , no courtesy, no compassion , we are programmed by the media to want the latest gadget, as much money as we can get , by any means necersary, Glamour plays a huge part in culture these days.

Look at the 'gangsta' culture for example, not casting aspersions at the ethnic community , but sometimes I despair as it seems they don't want to help themselves from being tarred with the same brush as the 'gangsta's' "I'ts cool to treat women like sex objects, get money and cars by stealing, shooting cops because they looked looked in their direction" mentality. The same goes for us all, we are all tarred with the same brush, everyone has likes and dislikes..Whites hate blacks, blacks hate whites, reds hate yellows , rich hate poor, democrats hate republicans, etc...

I for one hate the inhumanity we have for each other as we seem to have lost respect for one another, all for the love of shiney gizmo's and money.
Look at the state of the world right now, with the credit crisis and all, there have been tales of communities trying to help each other in the US but then stopped by the corrupt Government simply because the Government isn't getting anything from the dealings.

If the community of the world keep going down the path it os going then there will be worse on the horizon, There have been stories of people over here in the UK being killed for a bag of fish and chips, soon it will be for a loaf of bread, whilst those in charge , the Governments and super rich will be safe behind their wrought iron gates and high walls with more than enough to eat.

I can see the world becoming like the US during the depression in the 1920's and 30's, the rich few cavorting around and the poor living from hand to mouth living in shanty towns in central park.
Anarchy will prevail as the masses take what they can from the rich, the rich will not be safe neither will the Government officials, sure they'' have their police force and the army but be honest , how many of them are there to the rest of the communities?

Sure they'll fire on them but the people will be like a tsumami, there will be no stopping it, yes some will fall, but the surge will be too great, the people will hate those that have and will not share, the masses will make sure they take .
People need to realise that theres a world out there, turn off the TV, stop eating the junk food leave the house, go and see nature before its all gone.
I haven't watched TV for months now apart from a few programs I actually like , I don't watch the news as its just propaganda to keep the masses complacent whilst their liberties and freewill are being drained.
Yes there are those that would fight to keep it that way, only because they are lazy now and like it, but as soon as they realise they have to fight to survive, how many will actually survive?

If the lid was to come off it will be because people are tired of being lied to, tired of wars for profit and not for freedom, tired of being told that to be popular you have to have a lot of money, but not being able to get any.
Tired of being told to have an easy life but you have to do as your told in order to have an easy life.

I for one fight everyday, with so much stacked against us with credit card debts, cars that cosume petrol that its vastly overpriced because some rich arab wants more money.

People want to live for today because tomorrow may never come so we're told, here's a news flash TOMORROW IS COMING. Don't think about getting for yourself today , think about what you can give your children tomorrow.

One of the best lines I've heard of lately was in the new film 'the day the earth stood still' , " if the Earth dies, you die, but if you die the Earth survives".
I thought that was apt for todays world. We are so greedy for new cars, new phones, new clothes and money that we don't care what happens to the environment and the people that live there, It doesn't affect us personally does it?.
We have , for example a nice new sweatshirt to wear, the latest design, a nice colour- but think before you hand over the £100 for the latest Tommy top, where did it come from, how was it made, who made it and what are they getting from this £100?
It doesn't matter "I 'll look nice " is all you'll think about. Because your told " you must have this to be popular or liked, or cool".
Thats the mentality we must rid ourselves from by getting rid of all currant Governments and replacing them with ones that want to safeguard our futures, if the Earth is corrupted by our current actions , who's going to clean it up? not us, thats for someone else to do isn't it?
No , we must all act now, otherwise we'll be in the spiral of self defeatist , self consuming deprevation and destruction.
The current wars our countries are fighting would be so much shorter if all the soldiers thought , "Hang on this war isn't affecting me directly, I'll go home and defend there".
If ALL the soldiers went home and defended , there'd be no wars.
A nice notion I know, but the real world isn't like this , becuase for 'national security' we must attack someone before they attack us. 'National security' indeed, all wars are for someones profit, but if the soldiers didn't fight there'd be now wars and the no profits exept the ones that matter, LIFE is the greates profit of all.
So life for tomorrow , show respect for each other , and above all love live, not money, money is imaterial, love is eternal, learn new things, teach others, live.

Rant over and I've had too much sugar this morning....

I agree with the OP.

At 40 (on January 13th) I would love for the lid to be blown off. transparency in Government and accountability for their actions. Even if it means great hardship and suffering for people in general I can't help but think we'd all be MUCH better off in the long run. Those of us that know how to work, repair things, have medical skills or first aid, tech skills and knowledge of hunting fishing trapping, well digging, gardening and farming, animal caretaking and husbandry etc...we'll be okay I think in a worst case scenario.

People need to start owning their own lives and taking responsibility for what they know and DO NOT know.

Feeding on the garbage doled out by MSM and Government is dangerous. People need to take some control.

if the entire system fails - we already know what those in power will be doing. Digging motes around their mansions, recording propaganda, and praying that the majority of people fall ill and /or die thus eliminating threat.

The situation is such already that they are not equipped to save all of us. Many will have no choice but to rely on themselves. This would be magnified in the event of a total collapse.

The fittest will find a way the weakest will waste away. In the end it will be a stronger group of people.

Of course at all costs the Gov will try to prolong the agony so there's still time to prepare and learn

Yes I'm 55 I'd love for things to come out in the open,I have family members and close friends who know whats going on,but they took an oath,in my opinion they will never disclose anything even after something was to happen, the Govt thinks that the public couldn't handle any pertinant imformation,so as far as any disclosure,I'll be 6 ft under by that time, and I've been a radical since the Kennedy assination,so a lot of years and a lot of years being told I'm crazy for not taking something by it's cover

I'm really near 50 now and I say let it burn. The quicker the better! Then we can sweep up the mess and throw out the garbage and start over. This world is over do for a make over!

I too sometimes think I want to just run the clock out, but I'm anxious to scrap this crap hole of a system we have and start it over again. Nothing says that we have to keep putting up with the violence and hate, insanity and manipulation. We can say enough is enough and stop it. But we would all pretty much have to be on the same page to do it.

Short of a cataclysmic event this is unlikely to occur. Most people will sit on the sidelines and get chewed up by the events, few will actively participate int changing it. Statistically 1/3 will be clueless, 1/3 will be apathetic and 1/3 will actively do something to try to change it. Guess we will have to see which 1/3 we all fit into.

I didn't realize there were others that felt as I do. I'm almost 62 and had heard rumors of a third world war since I was a child.

Yes, I say let it blow. Separate the wheat from the chafe. I have heard rumors of the end times and a third world war since I was a child.

Those of us that lived through the Bay of Pigs debacle in Cuba have been expecting total world annihilation since then.

Living over 50 years with the threat of nuclear war does take it's toll on a person. I've been in a permanent survival mode since I was young child.
It's getting tiresome to say the least.

It feels like I've been bullied for all these years. Lived under a threat from China and or Russia.

In my personal life I have never allowed anyone to bully me. Even though I've tried to remain a lady I have, on many occasions, had to announce to detractors in my business and personal life that if they want some of me then come and get it. There is no fence around my butt.

That is my attitude to the world. Stop the saber rattling and give it your best shot.

In all honesty, I believe I will go to my grave and never see an end to this constant war posturing between the super powers.

Do I advocate death and destruction? No, we already have that. It may and probably will take wider death and destruction to change our world for the better. From the ashes a new and better world will come.

I'll be 52 on January 17th and I am really elated because I just read all your posts and you guys are all in my head, aren't you

I am hanging out for the STHF and disclosure of all kinds and sincerely hope to be around when it all happens. I have so many questions about all sorts of things that are discussed in these ATS forums.
I want to see an end to fossil fuels because this would mean an end to raping the landscape/seascape and perhaps help in turning back the clock regarding extinction of other species...and ourselves. This could also mean no more playing nation against nation, holding each other to ransom or invasions into territories.

Before I die, my wish is to see all of mankind come together, rejoicing in each other's individuality, accepting of just how special and unique each and everyone of us really are. Each person being able to follow their spiritual path freely without prejudice and pressure to conform to the ideals of others. Not having borders or barriers to our existence but united for the greater good of our planet.

I firmly believe that there are greedy elites with evil agendas that we are a part of and we have a right to know who is pulling the strings that manipulate us.

I know this sounds really arty-farty and idealistically impossible but I also know that I am not an island. That will do until I know the real answers.

May 2009 be a better year for us all
