Please use other video upload sites

Hello everyone,

I just wanted to make a request for the ATS members to post videos from alternative video sites instead of youtube. Youtube is so popular now that majority of companies and business' have websense surf control filter software that blocks it out from view from employees. Another factor that makes youtube less favorable is its poor quality of video and its limited upload files size which requires lengthy videos to be divided into multiple videos.

Some alternative video sites are video.google.com, break.com, liveleak.com, vloggingtheapocalypse.com, metacafe.com, etc.

Youtube also has a growing reputation for censorship, as well as recently advocating a system in which videos which feature content which youtube feel's isnt 'family friendly' to be ranked automatically lower than other videos. This system seems deeply flawed in my opinion, and also seems to point to coporate sponsorship having a growing influence on youtube.

Whether or not this affects ats is up to personal preference.

meh, youtube is just like wiki, a good starting place for investigating stuff. it has almost any video you want on it.

um, i'ld also point out that the company you "work" for has blocked youtube so that you might spend a couple of hours actually doing what they're paying you to do, so.......... back to the grind stone minion.

But posting one in a reply here at ATS there are only two options YukTube and GooGly!

A quick word of caution...

Please be careful in your video hosting selections, as many "free" services tend to have less than desirable advertisement on the linked page (read pr0n) and may raise the ire of the staff.

Also, a lot of the videos on google video (and others) actually link to youtube videos... i mean, i agree... youtube sucks (quality-wise) but like someone said... it's the video wiki, quick, easy and they have almost everything.

and might I also add that anything that raises the Ire of this staff (besides the exception of one unnamed simian) is not desirable

Although I would love to see the ability to embed videos from other sites besides youtube and google. Some of the other sites mentioned do not host the offensive type of video and it would be nice to link those videos in a nifty convenient way as youtube and google videos are able to. (Thanks Skeptic! )
