Why won’t god appear to us to prove its existence?

It would seem to me that God does not perform miracles in order to make people believe in Him. God chooses to do things with those who already believe in Him, in order to move forward His plans for the earth.
The Israelites were shown many miracles but still made a golden calf to worship. So believing does not mean that you automatically have faith. Faith is a gift from God to those who are of a mind to seek after truth and do not need to have proof of what they know from a spirit that dwells within.
The miracle we need to be concerned about is the one where Christ could die on the cross and bring forgiveness for our sins.

So if we see god do a miracle it is now "Explained", not supernatural any more, even though we can not explain how he did it, just that we saw him do it? "God did it" is not an explaination. It is a claim of who performed it, not how.

See the disconnect?
