So most people said they were going to get invaded but guess what it didn't. The thing that most people don't understand is the reality of war and how much it costs and how damaging it can be. With the current economic downturn no one(well i shouldn't say no one) can afford a war. People on ATS like the idea of war, but as i say most people cannot grasp the damaging effects of mobilizing an army to invade another country.

If there is no financial gain in the end there will be no wars. Except in some special circumstances

Right now Israel can't strike iran for many reasons. It is unlikely that israel will receive support from US, US has too much on its plate right now. Iran is a powerful nation that can match israel in a conventional war, no problem. Israel is only saber rattling because they know they do not have the offensive capabilities to deactivate iran's so called nuclear weapon production. Israel is a class bully with a big brother at the play yard.

Exactly Doomsday. It's all about Iran. Israel are fighting against public opinion and trying to exercise restraint while being attacked. This is an Iranian ploy to weaken Israel for one through another Lebanon type affair, secondly to buy a little more time to make its nuke, thirdly to get liberal Arab regimes onside against Israel. If Israel can save face without invading Gaza by using surgical airstrikes then good on them. This is an Iranian plot for sure. Israel must delay any strike until it takes out Iran. The two must be simultaneous for success to be achieved.

It could also be Israeli propaganda so Hamas can let its guard down. Then when Hamas feels it is safe to go about their business, Israel strikes.

Gazans who voted in Hamas must take entir resposibility for this event. Like the Germans who voted in Hitler then suffered total annihialtion of their state at the hands of the Russians.... They voted for this.

Hamas is a legitimate organisation - only 6 countries in the world state they are `terrorist` and 1 is israel and the another is the usa , the other 360 odd countries on the planet either are indifferent or support Hamas as a legitimate resistance force.
