At the point where we have to start enforcing Freedom, Freedom has already departed from us. I think the gov't would be playing a very dangerous game by going down that road. A loyal military is vital to their staying in power. That's why Military Coup's have been prevalent in less-than-free countries all over the world throughout history.

They should have realized that without a functional Economy nothing else was going to work. An attempt at police-state is just the next mindless step towards third world status.

Sorry I dont mean to interrupt your discussion with an outsiders point of view. I dont live in America but I do work with your troops alot.

If your government did try to utalize your millitary against its people there would most likely be a divide in the millitary and create a sort of civil war amongst its own troops as some would carry on with the whole im faithful to the death thing whilst others (the majority) would resist such orders due to them being normal people not wanting to turn their weapons against the people they've sworn to protct not to mention thier friends and families.

Soldiers of the larger nations are trained in what they can and cant do (geneva convention) and also to think ethicaly and not to follow orders which are agaist what they exist to do (protect the people of thier country). The governmet could live under the impression that it can just pull out the old millitary to start controlling its people with violence if neccisary but it wouldnt work they would only achieve the destrucion of thier own army (or marines if your a marine).

By the way im talking large scale, evil stuff here. Am not talking about hey theres a flood lets call in the millitary to protect peoples buisnesses from looting.

But in saying that im not that current on your countries ability to utalise its Defence force on home turf.

They took too much of our freedom and our privacy but we still had a comfortable way of life. Now they give away our money to some rip off bankers. let our families get thrown out on the street and crash the economy and leave us with nothing to lose.

We shall make a stand and let slip the dogs of war.

If martial law breaks out everyone with a nothing left to lose needs to end up in the wealthiest living rooms and get some payback....then they will listen.

Subjective viewpoints aside, yes there are corrupt politicians, bankers, doctors, police and even restaurant managers in this country. The presence of such a trait within people of power however is not new, unfortunately. All civilizations which have existed have faced the problem. This however is no excuse to wish for general insurrection, lawlessness and chaos. That is what this particular study mentions as part of its analysis.

id say our government right now is about as close to despotic as it gets.

What!? It always amazes me when people make such extreme remarks with no sense (certainly no in-depth understanding), of history. How can our government be as "despotic as it gets" when you are free to criticize it? Even when you're not so subtly urging action against it. Clearly you have a strong opinion, should that be married with a position of power, tell me, how un-despotic would you be? No offense but please think things our more rationally, dispassionately and without time constraints (long term implications and past historical precedents).

Thats just about preserving the status quo and the ones in power , not necessarily to prevent a political meltdown of the US . Many nations have had to resort to this tactic in the past , they are not some piddling 3rd world nation now because of it . Your reasoning could be equally applied to propping up any despotic regime engaged in suppressing the populace with that blanket kind of 'it's an insurection, it's 'anarchy' generalization .

You know through all this cluster of voices, what i am wondering is what would make the N.Y POST print this article??

Surely the editor in chief was consulted on whether to run with the story or not. They must of deemed it important enough to print is my guess.

So that's mass influence. Damage? done.

It is one thing being a patriotic American; however, it is another to be just blind.
We are not talking about corrupt doctors, and restaurant managers, we are talking about our politicians that have betrayed us lied to us stole from us! The United States is going through the worst financial storm this Country has ever seen in history. People are MAD! And have good reason to be. In the last three months a million jobs a month have been lost, unemployment is at it highest in twenty-six years and still climbing. The dollar is steadily dropping and the stock market the Dow, is closing at lower figures every day now, (We the People) did not cause this to happen. However, our greedy Corporations, and our greedy bankers, and our greedy politicians, caused every bit of this to happen. (We The People,) have just about had enough, we have been lied to about:
1. The war in Afghanistan!
2. The Iraq war!
3. WMD!
4. 911!
5. Economy!
6. Terrorism!
7. Elections !
8. The oil Co profits, robbing people at the gas pumps!
9. Sleazy politicians who feel they are above the law of the land, and do not have to answer to congressional subpoenas!
10. Constant cover ups in the Bush administration!
11. Constant stone walling of internal investigations!
12. Unconstitutional laws are being pass against the people in this Country such as the Patriot Act.
13. To pass laws to allow torture!
14. Most of our textiles, and industries have moved over seas so the greedy Corporations can make more money on *slave labor*.
15. Big Corporations are bring in people in the United States on work visa to steel jobs away from American, and not just the blue collar workers, but the white collar workers as well.
This Government feels it dose not have to answer to the people! This Government feels it is above the law of the land. This Administration has not been held accountable for ANYTHING!
This Congress has rolled over for the Bush administration, and has avoided impeachments of George Bush, and Dick Cheney at every turn.

It appears that our Government has been highjack by a very evil element; one would have to think this evil element has more power than our Government and what would that be?
How about the Federal Reserve! The Federal Reserve is “not” part of our Government; he who controls the money of the Country and prints all the money controls “everything”.
Without a currency, we have nothing. Our Government must go to the Federal Reserve to borrow money for their war and everything else they need. There are times I am sure the Feds want something in return beside interest rates. Oh ya! Like new laws pass for them to gain more control over the stock exchange and in the banking system.
You better believe the Fed have friends in high places like the CEO of big corporations and CEO of big banks and it is very clears what they are doing to our economy no one need to look any further than the ridiculous bank bail out. The bankers are not bailing out the economy, actually it as all a secret! Not for (We The People) to know. I find it appalling and disgusting.
Be MAD! We should be, it's time these thugs are held accountable.

I think you might want to do some additional reading:

Garden Plot

Rex 84

Operation Northwoods

HSPD Directive 51 - Senator denied access to classified sections

The last one on this list is the most recent transgression.

All of them together including the killing of JFK speak to what is
really going on in this country.

The life span of this republic is coming to an end.

US congressman speaks truth to power on the NAU

If you want to do your "ostrich with its head in the sand" impersonation
that is your right to do so.

But you have been warned.

If you believe the NAU is not real, then you are right where the government wants you, blind and uninformed, the NAU is not a rumor or a consperacy, It is fact, fact that is documented in countless videos, news articles and so on, if you do a little research then you will find out, People seem to think that since they didnt hear about it on cnn that its not real, and as a matter of fact you will never hear or see certain things on news stations that are really going on in our world, and once again, water is wet, thats a fact, The NAU is a real plan, that is a fact.

I love when people get on their high horse about how others are conspiracy theorist and stuff. you know, its not like the Boston Tea party were "conspirators" or anything. In the fanatical world I like to call reality, it's much better to be safe than sorry. what do I think about this 'new' training for economic crisis? seems a little odd that they're doing that now, should have been done with around the great depression you think? not to mention the Greek riots right now, over 400 million dollars worth of damage, unemployment rates for people between the age of 15-35 at 30%, If I was in charge of America, I'd be a little worried. economic times and bush's "great" (sorry its even hard for me to be sarcastic about that) decisions could lead to some problems, unfortunately I personally believe that 99% of us will believe what we hear on fox 6, continue to try and out do the Jone's next door and call the people who actually try to make a difference anarchists and terrorists, like were told.

one man's terrorist is another's freedom fighter.

One thing I do agree with people on is arming yourself.

I say this because I have no idea if we'll be able to mobilize fast enough to protect you, your family and property against looters and rioters.

If there is a national civil disturbance, we will do our best to mobilize and deploy to protect people and property. I do advise people to arm yourself and put together an emergency kit, including first aid, drinking water and canned goods. A bug out bag might be a good idea, if you need to clear out from an area quickly.

Here are some useful resources:

Emergency Preparedness site from the Department of Homeland Security
www.ready.gov...

FEMA: Are you ready? An In-depth Guide to Citizen Preparedness
www.fema.gov...

Be Prepared - American Red Cross Preparedness Information
www.redcross.org...

For the potential rioters and looters, we will not hesitate to use necessary force. Act stupid and you will get arrested in conjunction with local and state law enforcement. This is not Europe. Act real stupid and you will end up in a hospital.

The Freedom and Liberty that is enshrined in the Bill of Rights does not give people the right to burn down homes, businesses, attack innocent people or loot property. The Constitution does not give people the right to Anarchy. You do those things and you infringe on the freedom and liberty of fellow Americans, basically spitting on the Constitution and grave of every American serviceman who fought and died for this great nation.

The US military will be there to help those who need it and defend the nation against those who threaten it.

"Not to promote war, but to preserve peace." Elihu Root
[sign at the entrance to the US Army War College, Carlisle Barracks, Pa]

The US Army War College trains mostly LTCs and COLs and (aside from their advanced civilian duties, Masters and some PhDs) is the second advanced military schooling given to officers who are deemed to have the potential to achieve the grade of general officer (the first major school is the Command and General Staff College at Ft. Leavenworth, Ks when they are Majors in the army). The officer students write a Master's level thesis during their one year of study and the emphasis is on training them not doing independent research. The navy also has a war college (for Commanders and Captains).

It was done before that, in the 1791 Whiskey Rebellion.

Angered by an excise tax imposed on whiskey in 1791 by the federal government, farmers in the western counties of Pennsylvania engaged in a series of attacks on excise agents. The tariff effectively eliminated any profit by the farmers from the sale or barter of an important cash crop, and became the lightning rod for a wide variety of grievances by the settlers of the region against the federal government.

While citizens in the east did not find it difficult to abide by the concept that individual states were "subservient to the country," people west of the mountains were less accepting of decisions made by the central government.

The rebel farmers continued their attacks, rioting in river towns and roughing up tax collectors until the so-called "insurrection" flared into the open in July of 1794 when a federal marshal was attacked in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. Almost at the same time several hundred men attacked the residence of the regional inspector, burning his home, barn and several outbuildings. Pittsburgh was another scene of disorder by enraged mobs.

On August 7, 1794, President Washington issued a proclamation, calling out the militia and ordering the disaffected westerners to return to their homes. Washington's order mobilized an army of approximately 13,000 — as large as the one that had defeated the British — under the command of General Harry Lee, the then-Governor of Virginia and father of Robert E. Lee. Washington himself, in a show of presidential authority, set out at the head of the troops to suppress the uprising.

This was the first use of the Militia Law of 1792 setting a precedent for the use of the militia to "execute the laws of the union, (and) suppress insurrections," asserting the right of the national government to enforce order in one state with troops raised in other states. Even more importantly, it was the first test of power of the new federal government, establishing its primacy in disputes with individual states. In the end, a dozen or so men were arrested, sent to Philadelphia to trial and released after pardons by Washington.

One wonders if the President would in fact call the Military down on people if civil unrest happens, which it already is in some parts of the country. One also wonders if American soldiers would in fact shoot American citizens....

This is really not as shocking or suprising as it may sound. We as military personel are trained to be ready for anyhing.
Riot training was part of our training when we were going to GitMo. Couple that with the knowledge of sweep teams and SARs, SADs and numerous other training we recieve, and it's nothing new to us. remember in the oath "...To fight enemies forign and abroad..."

I think this is the MSMs way of spooking people into submission.

Thats what the war college does....predicts all the what ifs and varibles that go along with it. I think many are a lil paranoid of another Nazi Germany scenario and it is probably the furthest from what would happen.

Hell they even have a WHAT IF aliens invaded us scenario. The real question is can civilians keep their cool because this is what would bring about stringent measures against the populace. Cant be swinging your guns at soldiers and not expect to not get decimated by them.

Breathe people....breathe. As cops say time and time again when a civilian gets frantic about getting cuffed...RELAX
