Oh f'k...not again

And strangely enough, just as the energy corporates are justifying taking hundreds of quid a time from their customers direct-debit accounts, presumably to secure supply-futures...

Could this be part of a wider log term strategy by the Russian PTB...first show how vulnarable the overland oil/gas export routes are in Georgia, then threaten Ukrainian (and wider NW europe) gas supplies with economic blackmail

If current engineering technology enables deepsea gas pipelines to be laid from norway to east anglia...surely a geo-thermal electricity-pipeline from Iceland would be a feasible project, and would enable iceland to repay its economic debts to the UK at the same time

edit to add:

*news update* this just mentioned on the radio just now..Oil could be under housing estate ...now how about that for a bizarre twist

was that you santa?

Would certainly give more weight to the NIMBY cries!

We've always been held by the short and curlies. As soon as town gas and electricity was pumped into urban areas we effectively surrendered. The difference is now we have gained awareness and are open to alternatives at the very least. Those more proactive are overtly pursuing.

So here's the thing, if TSHTF what would be the point in electricity generation and gas storage when pretty much every appliance that requires these fuels would become unavailable?
