I'm not getting excited about this, as I am sure it can be easily explained. But what exactly are those three things in the background of this image?

marsrovers.nasa.gov...

Again, I'm sure this can be explained. Does anyone know what those things are in the background? Are they reflections or something? (One of them looks very rover-ish.) Thanks.

Rock outcroppings would be my first guess. Unfortunately that is a view from the hazcam which is a fisheye type view and bends the view so the horizon is not straight when using a normal camera.

And unfortunatley, there is no PanCam raw images to ascertain what they could be, but most likely just large rock outcroppings.

Cheers!!!!

Hi Totakeke:

they are part of Mars Rover itself: once i've tried to identify what exact parts of the rover they were: they are below the rear solar panels:
here,

you can see where they are approximately located (blue disc) and where is located the rear-haz cam (red sphere).
The object visible in the upper left and upper right of the rear haz-cam photos is the one (or an identical one) inside the white square: in the photo is visible because is a photo of a Rover not yet deployed, so the components located in the lower side of the panel are visible.

Yep, the 1724 image rides the horizon so it looks like something on the horizon but isnt.

Here is another rear hazcam image that shows those same pieces and the view also shows the horizon and a hill far off in the distance.

Sol1397

The pieces are attached to the bottom of the rover and due to the fisheye nature of the hazcam lens, it could easily be mistaken as something on the ground if the angle of the camera is just right so that it meshes with the bottom of the rover, then those things would look like they are comming from the ground.

Cheers!!!!
