What bothers me is that the *second* shoe was able to be thrown at an open target.

The SS is supposed to immediately get between the threat and the protected. In this case, there was one SS agent in the room; he was sitting in the audience. The rest were behind the curtains.

Poor layout, imo.

And it has absolutely nothing to do with my personal feelings about Bush.

Here you go again with the "9/11 wasn't an inside job?" mantra again. And your love/hate statements about Bush.

Personal feelings about Bush should not enter the discussion. We should be discussing the incident, not our personal feelings.

Statements like "Who cares? It's only Bush" are childish and unnecessary. It's something a 13 year-old would say.

This was my comment on the video as well. If it were a gun they would all be immediately fired, and possibly convicted of some sort of federal crime.

No, who care's

The Bush administration should be in an international war crimes trial.

It's a shame the shoes missed!

That discussion is for the original thread. This one is surrounding the secret services reaction. We welcome your comments and opinions in the original thread, where many will join you in the great "Hurray!" that someone has finally offended Bush in the necessary way.

The way Bush reacted and the way this is all playing out I'm starting to think it could have been a staged shoe toss/photo op. Set some guy up and now the public sees a reason for tightening security around the pres.. and more importantly, Lord Obama.

More political trolling by someone acting like child.

I'd be surprised to hear that you were older than 13 yourself.

The children can't even go a thread without whining about Bush. Give it a rest and go back to failing algebra.

Jinni, you are an example of a country gone to hell. Your disrespect for the office of President is shameful. Since you apparently have no moral compass to even point out your error, then I'm ashamed for you.

Those were some of the most assinine statements that I've ever heard.

This is exactly why I could never be a law enforcement officer, and especially Secret Service. I'd have blown that SOB's head off as quick as I could pull the trigger, right in the room, right in front of God and everyone.

I hope the SOB hangs himself in jail. Sometimes that can be arranged.

So anyone showing displeasure of Bush and questionning how resources such as US taxpayers are spent (Including paying for SS for Bush) I am called a 13 year old whiner and crap at algebra.

It seems like you are the troll and an obvious supporter who can't take their lover being critised. Furthermore, you attempt to discredit and conduct personal assasination to protect your lover.

Listen Boy, everytime someone posts your type of post I'm going to reply with the words:

NEURO-LINGUISTIC PROGRAMMING

One can use this high-tech shoe throwing model and simulation to analyse possible forms of acceptable SS actions.

I'm surprised I haven't seen this thread earlier...I have done executive protection and I can tell you professionally the SS screwed up. I will even give them the benefit of the doubt and say the first shoe was not stoppable (other professional protection agents may differ) but the second shoe being thrown without the SS even moving in was astounding. I assure you that part of the training you recieve to do such jobs is observing the crowd AT ALL TIMES. And yes, someone in the setting such as this jumping up to fast would be a huge red flag. And in response to the person that said something to the effect of "all the agents jumping onto the guy with the shoe who might have been a decoy", again, I assure you that scenerio is part of very basic protection training. It's kind of moot to discuss the actual tactics of how they should have responded but acknowledging that their perfomance was not up to industry standards is easy to do in this case.
