question about vietnam

it has come to my attention in my political science class that a declaration of war was never declared on vietnam. however the constitution states that the president must tell congress that he is sending troops within 48 hours or all combat troops must be removed within 60 days. so wasn't that a violation of the constitution?

Nope... It was never a war. We were there supporting the South VietNamese government with "thousands" of military advisors.

no there is a law that states that a president can send troops into any country for up to 30 days without approval of congress.

the funny part is that those 30 days can keep getting renewd so technically a president never has to declare war but just so we think we have rights he pretends to ask congress.
