There is no evidence of Atlantis apart from Plato's use of Atlantis as a narrative device - a fictional place that allowed people to discuss the
different types of government, and how they ultimately affect a city-state. A common methodology of philosophical discussion in ancient Greece.
Plato was a philosopher, not a historian, and not a geographer. People believe in Atlantis as a real place not because of evidence, but because they
want to - pure and simple.
