Blow Over Scandals

I find it ammusing that Mr. Dean has the audacity to charge the Bush Administration as the most corrupt ever because these were the same charges levied against the Reagan Admin during the dark days of the Iran Contra Affair. In those days our CIA Cheif was a crook who took his secrets to the grave, Meese was the new Herman Goerring with an insatiable apetite for destroying our civil liberties, Ollie North was a psychopathic guard dog who didnt have the dignity to wear the uniform, Reagan was a senile old codger who didnt have the dignity to resign, and Bush SR was supposedly the man who ran everything.

So lets summarize: VP Dirty as Hell, President Incompetent, and our Att Gen is a Neo Nazi. Now if that doesnt read like the claims against Bush Jr your more than likely senile yourself.

Some have claimed that 4 of the last 5 Republican Administrations are corrupt crooks and that the 5th one is on the cusp of being run out of town, and yet history has shown itself that these scandals blow over.

During the height of Iran Contra, the newspapers ran all sorts of overhyped editorials desribing the future fate of the Administration, one from March of 87 comes to mind.

First his own son betrayed him in incriminating personal correspondence that showed up in the Miami Herald, then Aarab arms dealer Adnan Khashgogi went sideways on him by offering to produce canceled checks to prove Geeorge was lying when he said he had never solicited illegal contributions for the contras...
Many heads will roll in Washington when that happens and there is no joy tonight in the home of George Bush. They will soon be loading him up on the tumbril with others and carrying him off to the guillotine

Mr. Thompson had GW at a 30-1 Odds of becomming the next president and that Reagan would resign by the end of the year. Im a huge fan of Hunter but his writings during this time only show case the fallacy of GWBs Admin being the most corrupt in history. The 30-1 horse became President even with the weight of Iran Contra HEARINGS, somethign GWB hasnt been slammed with So if GW Sr. Was such a mean bastard then why did he dodge jail time? Iran Contra produced hearings and indicments as did Watergate but last time I checked there has been no independent council appointed to investigate the president. You may have bush at a 50-1 Odd of being re elected but just remember what happened to Gary Hart, our president in the wings of 88.

I voted for these republicans and I'll tell you something:
These guys all follow the same rules and answer to the same master. The democrats are included in this little group.
So, why shouldn't they all be a little crooked, immoral, amoral or corrupt. They figure we can't do much to thwart their power.

I agree I just find it interesting that when the left attacks the right it receives a good deal of publicity and other hype while attacks on the left are portrayed as moronic and insensitive.
