I got this chain message (I don't sign them because it's not effective by email), but is this true? If so, it is impeding upon the rights of the radio station owners to freely exersise speech.

Removal of Joel Osteen, Joyce Meyer, Charles Stanley, David
Jeremiah and other pastors from the airwaves: An organization
has been granted a Federal Hearing on the subjec t by the
Federal Communications Commission (FCC) in Washington , D.C.
Their petition, Number 2493, would ultimately pave the way to
stop the reading of the gospel of our Lord and Savior, on the
airwaves of America . They got 287,000 signatures to back
their stand! If this attempt is successful, all Sunday worship
services being broadcast on the radio or by television will be
stopped. This group is also campaigning to remove all
Christmas programs and Christmas carols from public schools!
You as a Christian can help! We are praying for at least 1
mill ion signatures. This would defeat their effort and show
that there are many Christians alive, well and concerned about
our country. As Christians, we must unite on this. Please
don't take this lightly. We ignored one lady once and lost
prayer in our schools and in offices across the nation. Please
stand up for your religious freedom and let your voice be
heard.. Together we can make a difference in our country while
creating an opportunity for the lost to know the Lord.

These Bible salesmen have every right to be on the radio as long as station management wants them.

I hope the religious "right" would also support the same freedoms to everyone else on the radio eg. Stern, Opie&Anthony etc...

Well, I am not a christian, but I will say that removal of christian broadcasters simply based on the fact that they are preaching, would be infringing upon their rights, and mine.

Anyone who does not wish to listen to their stuff, can simply turn the channel. That's what all of us non-christians or religious folks have been trying to get across to ya'll for ages now. Don't like what we have to say? or our music? or whatever the beef may be? Turn the channel, there's a ton of others you can view/listen to/subscribe to.

On a lighter note, it's funny to see that the christian right is getting a little taste of what they've been throwing out for the past few years

Anyhow.. no it's wrong, and i'll take the words of one of our founders to heart in this case.. .I may not like what you have to say, but i'll defend your right to say it.

This sort of email starts making the rounds every couple of years and everyone gets into an uproar about. The FCC doesn't care. The radio stations only care that they get paid. The government doesn't care, because when the radio staion gets paid, then the government gets to collect taxes.
In other words, it's just some religious nut trying to stir something up ONE MORE TIME! Ignore, and maybe it will no away. (Not likely, but maybe.)
