So, my uncle is going through some treatment for his metastatic prostate cancer and seeing the head honcho at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York. I was just wondering if anyone had any opinion, good or bad, on this center. I've heard a lot of good things, but I don't trust just anyone with my uncle. He's been my hero since I was in about second grade. Just hoping someone can give me either a bit of reassurance or a real reason to worry.

As far as traditional medicine is concerned your uncle is in great hands.
Sloan-Kettering has an impeccable reputation.

My experience with Sloan Kettering was back in the 90's when my mother was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer.

They have some of the BEST doctors in the WORLD there. Your uncle could not be in better hands. Their Manhattan hospital is THE place to be seen. Once a patient is affiliated with them thru NYC, there are offices on Long Island that may be more convenient for followups depending on where the Dr. has hours. (Commack , Rockville Centre & Hauppauge )

Each staff member i had contact with was kind and went out of their way not only for the patients, but their families as well. Their dedication is astounding.

I have a friend that works there too .. u2u me if ya need anything.

I will keep your uncle in my thoughts. Chin up =)

( hug )

What SDog and SugarJ said

Sloan-Kettering has an outstanding reputation. I've known a few people who've been treated there, and have never heard a bad thing (as far as that's possible for people undergoing chemotherapy).

The doctors are top-notch, the nursing staff seems excellent, and he will have access to the newest and most promising treatments.

I hope his treatment goes well.

I have been getting treated at Memorial Sloan Kettering for over the last five years. It is a wonderful hospital, and it is the reason I am still here today. The staff and treatment there are exemplary. I don't think there are too many other places your uncle can be treated that are better.

To everyone who posted...

Thank you very much for the encouraging words. I thought that this was the case, but you can never help but wonder.

As for my uncle right now, he has had a little bit of a setback and was moved for a bit but now he is recovering. Thank you very much for keeping him in your thoughts. Hopefully things will be better for him and his girls soon.
