This morning I realized I was dreaming while in a dream (second time this happened). The first time I didn't do anything about it - just let the dream run. This time I willed myself to do something, so instead of continuing this regular dream of playing football, I took the football and threw it at someones head (willingly). Once I did this and took control of the dream, I felt like I was shaking, or vibrating, or my heart was in overdrive...I dont know what it was.

This scared me so I tried to force my eyes open - couldn't do it. Tried to lift my head - couldn't do it. The only way I finally woke up is I managed to force my mouth open which kind of started snapping me out of it. It still took another minute before I could open my eyes and lift my head. They felt like they were a thousand pounds.

Is there a term for this? What did I experience?

hmmmmm... ive had when im in a really bad nightmare and i want to wake up, but i cant, i try so hard to open my eyes but im still in my nightmare, then after a few minutes i wake up. Ive been told that to gain control of your dreams like you did is very good, cuz you can be able to get out of them very quickly and easily.
I dont know what its called what you had though, theres gotta be a name for it, there is for everything else

When I dream, I don't know I am dreaming. For all I know, what I am experiencing is real. I cannot control my dreams in that I know it's a dream and can do as I please. I just participate as if it is real.

My dreams are very lucid however...full colour and I tend to remember them.

Dreaming while in a dream...hmm, reminds me of that scene in American Werewolf in London. This has never happened to me. Do you mean you were asleep and dreaming inside another dream? I have had a dream where I was being held down by a significant weight, might have been another person, and I could not move at all. Claustrophobic feelings started to settle in, I struggled and yelled HELP! I woke up immediately thinking I had actually yelled help in "real life". But nobody was home for me to verify.

What you describe sounds a fairly horrifying feeling. I have thought about what it must feel like to become a quadraplegic and not be able to move at all...or even waking up under anaesthetic while surgeons are operating on you and you cant move or communicate. Horrible.

Sounds like you forced yourself to wake up, but your body was still in its sleep stage of sleep paralysis. Your body goes into that stage while dreaming so you dont acctually move around in your bed like in your dream, then you prematurly woke up while your body has not.

But the thing is, the only reason I forced my body to wake up is because I realized I was dreaming and became scared when I started to shake (I started shaking after i began controlling my dream).

Lucid dreaming when you know its a dream and you can change it

and the vibrations are a sign that you are aware of REM state

Is there anything cool you can do while lucid dreaming? Or being aware of REM state? Like any psychic/oobe/telepathy...things like that.

Can someone point me to places with more info?

can be honed and you can train yourself to do it.

I have been training about 6 months and have achieved amazing lucidity.
Last night I had another "adventure dream" (like being the star of a movie or video game.)
It included "cops and robbers" type plot complete with music, semi lucidity, extreme clarity and total recall.
We robbed a bank, I got on my bike (my real life HD but better paint job and it went alot faster), went to jail, busted out, had a gang fight..great cops and robbers scene with fatalities on both side. The end was a good fight and I got shot in the head.
credits actually rolled by, that tells you alot about my imagination
The entire time I knew I really wasnt in life danger but I could nt just "fly away" either. It had such excitement, It was so awsome. I woke up in the middle and got pissed, but by using a mantra I went right back in. ANYWAY...
you can develope places to return to and people you get to know (parts of yourself or people you already know). Or realize you have been doin such and just not recalling. My dream world relationships are almost as inmportant as my realworld...Its weird I know it. But my house and neighborhood and friends in my dream land are the same all the time, I just find out more about them each time I recall a dream. You learn more about yourself in this case.
ANYWAY...

I could go on forever U2U me if you want to know anything but for now:
for quick tips
www.fnapf.demon.co.uk...
for real knowlege and what has taught me much:
mysticweb.org...

good luck and dont be negitive it #s everything up.
The paralysis and vibrations are a doorway to OOB experiences and lucid dreaming. If you can learn to recognize the states it would be most benificial to LD and OOB

see ya in the Astral Plane,
Kristine

You started out going lucid in your dream but your panic caused you to go into sleep paralysis.
Lucid Dreaming is rare and hard to keep going because of the tendency to panic, but a neat trick you can try is looking at your feet or touching your nose in the dream once you become aware that you are in a dream. Keep yourself in contact with your dream self sometimes spinning in a circle will help keep you in too. Really anything that distracts you from the intial panic and keeps you grounded in the dream will work.
