WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Five security guards from Blackwater Worldwide have been indicted on charges related to a 2007 shooting in which 17 Iraqis were killed in a Baghdad square, two sources said Friday.

I believe this fellas are going down for Murder and the Jury will convict them in less than one hour...

It is about time in my opinion that we start holding the private contractors (nice term for hired killers/Mercenaries) at least to the same standard as the Military is. I think we should hand them over to Iraq to find guilty and Hang like Saddam. Didn't he get hung for killing Iraq's?

Charged with killing civilians?

Those who for years have been opening up on them and planting IED's, weren't those "civilians" too?

This is a BS charge.

They are accused of killing random people stuck in a traffic jam, not insurgents.

They got spooked and fired wildly into a crowd of bystanders, they are mass murderers and should be treated as such.

I just find it odd.

Everytime I see these "insurgents," "militants," or "militia," firing in the streets at American troops, or from ambush in the hills or in buildings, they look exactly - not similar to, but - EXACTLY like the civilians you see on the street.

So how in Hades can these guys be charged for killing "civilians," when that's all we've ever killed in Afghanistan and Iraq. Always civilians. Never one single, uniformed soldier. Civilians.

And my definition of civilians is "enemy enablers."

This is bogus. This is outrageous. Show me a single uniformed "soldier" that we've ever killed in over four years of war over there.

You won't. We always kill or were killed by civilians.

And now we're going to be charged with killing civilians?

Just a reminder of what 'contractors' got up to in Iraq. Incidentally, under international laws and the Geneva Convention, mercenaries have no protection. A goat can shoot them never mind civilians. In most cultures, mercs are considered filth.

something isnt right with blackwater,they seem to intentfully target civilians wherever they go.
i remember reading of an account of the recent georgia russia escapade in which blackwater mercs were seen intenfully targeting civilians.

coupled with the fact that legislation has been passed to make blackwater mercs immune from prosecution for the slaying of civilians,it appears that is there purpose.to me blackwater is nothing but a proxy for future ai depopulation.

i would suggest doing some close medical examinations of blackwater mercs,thier dna specificly.

But on a serious note, getting spooked is no excuse for killing innocent people, period. But for combat hardened vets working for blackwater, to claim your nervs were on end, bogus at best.

They know what they are doing and they do it with deadly efficiency. Unless your claiming the 17+ people they killed just had the bad luck of being in the one car that spooked them? (must have been one big car then).

Note, anyone involved in the illegal war and occupation of the soverign state of Iraq, can expect no less than what the Iraqi's are dishing out to them. Afterall, most of you on here are hippocrits, you would condone it if anyone invaded the UK/US and occupied us, but since you see the Iraqi's as sub human, they apprently have no right to resist the occupying forces?

Hitler had more honour than you lot condoning the actions of Blackwater, he never killed innocent French at random just because he suspected them of being in the resistance (the resitance were dressed just like civilians in ww2, any resistance is, why would they have uniforms to identify themself in guerilla warfare?), yet your all here condoning Blackwater just because the guerilla warfare in Iraq is not going your way!

I say hang the Blackwater scum, maybe they can salvage a shread of honour for the US in bringing justice to these men?

If they are convicted it will hopefully establish the legal precedent needed to keep these guys 'in check' and stop them from feeling they have the right to do anything they want, any time they want.

There should be more strict laws regarding hired mercenaries, just their very existence paints America in a bad light. As if our reputation in the world isn't bad enough right now, we really need hired thugs to further degrade the planet's perspective of us.

If convicted I hope they drag these guys over the coals and make an extreme example out of them.

Blackwater are hired murderers, do they get the bad guys? Sure but they get everyone and everyone aint the bad guy. Blackwater is a "Ravenwood" of real life. Did any of you follow that tv show that CBS suddenly pulled and then it was back on for a short season called "Jericho"? They had a blackwater like agency called Ravenwood that were not nice in any way. I believe the show was shut down because i hit to close to home for the PTB.

A federal grand jury indicted the five security guards in Washington, D.C., on Thursday. The Associated Press reports they're surrendering in Utah to hopefully have a trial here, in a more conservative, pro-gun venue.

I don't think this will work for them even if they get the trial in Utah. Most Americans are against this war in Iraq and RESPONSIBLE gun owners know that you don't shoot innocent people. I can not think of a place that these Blackwater Mercs won't get convicted unless the Jury is Bush, Cheney, Rove, Wolfowitz, Gonzales, Libby and 6 more of those trotskyite treasonous scumbags from the Bush cabal...
