US preparing for troop buildup in Afghanistan

Once again the U.S. is saber rattling and posturing. I used to support the war on terror, but no longer. We have been provoking Pakistan for a while now and a surge in military action in Afganistan is only pushing further. We can NOT win in Afganistan. Our military is exhausted. So many troops on 4th or more deployments have left us weak.

I believe that this will only perpetuate the war for another 7 years, probably longer.

I wouldnt say confused but to my knowledge and this was in 2001, There was bombing of targets other than the Tora Bora region so some speculate that it was the opium distribution facilities and poppy fields, Either way we can agree that the drug population is out of hand there and it needs to be addressed..

I like your reply D Boy..You bring up some good points and I have some serious mixed emotions to A-Stan and I still have a strong connection to that country and now my younger brother is there doing the same job I did over there, I always wonder that if we did in fact actually get him in 2003, There were many reports that he was hit injured during an airstrike but the extent of his injuries are unknown. That whole area is a natural fortress with so many passes to and from Pakistan. I just want our mission there to be a clear one and now it becomes even more personal with my brother there and close friends still operating there..
