Is anyone out there experiencing constant requests from the Google search to enter a CAPTCHA image verification, as if you are an automated 'bot rather than a real person searching?

Just wondering if anyone knows if Google (and possibly others) are under some kind of DoS attack, or is it more likely run of the mill technical problems. If it's a technical problem it's pretty rare for it to leak into the public view...

I have had this before only when using specific custom search terms like inurl.
And only when I requested like 100 results per page and tried to click on page 40.
When you try to do lots of things quick it thinks you are an automated program.
